Jealousy as far as i can see.

His got incredibly lucky to win the WSOP. And he put it all down to him playing very well instead of being lucky.
His table talk was obnoxious and made him look like a dick.
He's being sued by someone who says Gold promised him 50% of winnings, there's an audio tape that confirms this, Gold is denying that the audio tape is binding legally.

    What's not to like!?

he does have a name that is quite cool

but not as good as Moneymaker

Small world that it is. I discovered that the guy Gold owes the money to is a friend of a friend and used to work for LWT. He is apparently a very nice guy. But the humour of the situation is that my friend [who knows him] quite innocently said that she thought he was in dispute for an amount of 30 thousand. When I informed her that it was actually for 6 mil her face was an absolute picture.

If jealousy was a factor it would of have been present for Raymer and Hachem's title win also. Gold is just simply a dick

Greg Raymer always behaves. He handled Mike Matusow's tirade of abuse at the 2004 WSOP like a gent.

What I like about poker players is the trust.
If someone lends you cash, you pay it back as soon as possible.
If you have a piece of a player in a tournament and he cashes, the player pays.
    These are not debating issues.
Jamie Gold is breaking the "rules".

Did anybody begrudge Raymer when he won it? Gold is an arrogant w**ker.

Raymer is also a much better player though.

Were alot of people not happy to see him win it?

AFAIK Gold never actually reneged on the deal. He just asked for a few days to sort out the tax implications and the other guy panicked. The Rio confirmed that he never sought to withdraw the money. The whole thing is quiet bizzare. But I'm still not a fan.

Is there any update on this??

Moneymaker is a bad player too, but he's actually quite a popular guy because he's very down to earth and openly admits he was lucky to win the world series. He is very realisitic when it comes to his own abilties.

Gold just thinks the sun shines out of his own backside.

What an arrogant pompus fool. Thought he was the best player there with Alan Cunningham there he would walk rings around that fool. Ive never cn sumbody have such a good run of cards as he did. Yeah he won the big one but i dont think he will back for much more pure fluke!

After watcing the recordings of the Wsop I have to say that the guy is the luckiest fcuk I ever say.

What I also saw was the saddest excuse for a human being ever. None other than Eric Molina.

    As I recall from the time the antes up coverage was very much that Gold was a dick. If in doubt check out his interview in Bluff magazine. Amongst other dickisms;

I had three ways to beat Allen Cunningham, he didn't have any way to beat me.

I'm going to spend the money by hanging around with my friends so they don't have to work (cue onrush of railbird type friends).

I was some kind of child prodigy, learned maths at two etc.

The whole tournament I made everyone do exactly what I wanted them to do.

I kept thinking, I've this much chips and I haven't been lucky yet, once I get lucky there'll be no stopping me (cue outrageous streak of luck box).

I mean how could you call (antes up reported response having dogged someone else out of tournie with A-rag to JJ).

He also actually admits to colluding throughout the tournament by making agreements with the lads sitting either side of his blinds that any time they robbed him they'd have to show a good hand or he'd start bullying them.

    Dick.

What an idiot the chap had no class at all, im sure you would be tempted to give him a slap to shut him up!! Tryin to weasel his way out of the penalty when he would curse!

Taught the penalty incident was priceless. Gold was on him like a light.

The incident with Lisandro & Friedman was also entertaining. Strange how Friedman was so adamant but yet was proved to be in the wrong. I can only guess that there was a grovelling apology issued afterwards.

I am not sure if Friedman annoyed me more when he kept going on about it or when he made the rap *shudder*
Sweet jesus how many annoying people were at the WSOP this year

I loved the Friedman rap.... Class :p Go on Prahlad...

Gold's speech play was outrageous and crossed the line a few times.
The thing about the payout is very dodgy, initally it looked like it was just a matter of sorting out the tax but I reckon that the lawyers have hold of it now its going to be very hard to get back off them...in short if he reneges he'll have to live with himself. There was an excellent blog post here :
    http://zbasic.com/2006/11/friday-november-11th-jamie-gold-101.html

But this meme thats out there that somehow Cunningham played the best game and Gold was a total luckbox doesn't really stand up. Cunningham played the FT as if he was as bad as me FFS!

Gold wasn't sighted by the TV until day 4 even though he was a big CL from day 3, we got to see very little of his play and if you look at what is on TV a lot of it is very straightforward massive CL play...and sure he gets lucky and people seemed to be queueing up to try to take him on.
But the fact is he wasn't all once in the tournament, and I don't believe that can be just luck. Nasty and all as the speechplay was he did seem to be able to get people to fold when he wanted them to and call when he wanted to.

When we are talking about pricks there, what about the scandi who called the other pro for not anteing up when he had. I know what I woulda done with that prat.

The Rio still has the money.

The "facts" in that blog are quiet different to the "facts" in Card Player with their Gold interview.

    Latest here...

How do you know if he wasn't all-in. like you said he wasn't sighted until day four.
The WSOP main event has such a large field that from now on at leat one person in the 9k field is bound to get a massive run of luck and take it down.

So, what you are saying is that one person each year (at least) will win the Main Event in the WSOP?

    OK...
It has been reported by a number of sources that he wasn't all in once in the tournament...

But yea no doubt he is a Weapons grade AssWipe and if the source was himself it wouldn't exactly be reliable.

Watched the first half of the Final table for the first time yesterday. Gold is quite arrogant and obnoxious and is getting smacked over the head with the deck - no question on those points.

However, it isn't really his fault that the other players seem to want to donate chips to him. Moreover, Allen Cunningham is clearly having an "off day". He might be the best player at the final table but he doesn't seem to handle the pressure particularly well at all.
Has DITPoker had to initiate legal proceedings against you Lloyd?

Also, If I remember correctly, Gold was down to something like 2000 chips on day one at one point. Did he aviod going all in even then?
