A recent article in one of the daily paper's last week informed that the BBC have kept the right's to the Master's Tournament (Augusta) from Sky AFTER Sky lost out to Setanta.

Can anyone enlighten? Nothing much on Setanta website.....

I would guess that it's referring to Sky losing out to Setanta for the rights to show live PGA Tour golf (from next year, as far as I know). Sky now only has The Players, the USPGA and maybe a couple more and Setanta have the rest. Not sure about the US Open.

do sky not have the PGA tour aswell, i thought setanta had rights for ireland only, i'm loath to fork out for another sports channel, and you know the Setanta Golf Channel will not be free

“From January, 2007, the Setanta Sports Pack will include nine sports channels for just £15 per month. With our expanding rights portfolio, which will also include 46 Premiership matches next season, this represents fantastic value for money.”
note thats pounds not euros, probably be about €25 on top of the €60 already paid for digital and Sky Sports

I think it is either €15 a month at the moment and you can pay for the full year for €180 so would pay for full year now incase it goes up

From January, Setanta have exclusive UK and Ireland rights to the PGA Tour. Sky keep the rights to the US Open, US PGA, WGC Events, and of course the European Tour and Ryder Cup.

The BBC have the rights to the US Masters, British Open, and four other European Tour events.

Also, Ken Brown, the BBC commentator has signed on to commentate for Setanta's golf channel, although I think he will still remain at the BBC(as their coverage will rarely overlap).

thats crap though, as you'll need to pay for both channels to see it all, where before it was all on one and as stated quite clearly before in the quote from setanta

thats £15 pound sterling a month on top of what your already paying, it'll probably be rounded up to €25

At least they are making Setanta Sports 1(the UK equivalent of the Setana Sports Channel) free, which will mean it prob be included on Sky Digital for free. They are planning on showing some PGA tour golf on this free channel.

Also, I believe Setanta is only 7 Euro a month for their current sports package on NTL Digital.

Enigma you are ignoring the statement from Setanta themselves, there new golf channel which is the home of their PGA coverage will be available in a nine channel package that costs 15 sterling a month, not what ever it costs now, not 7Euro not 15 Euro.why are people ignoring the setanta statements to come up with their own baseless guesses.

the pga.com story with quotes from setanta

none of those packages include the new golf channel, which you will need to buy to watch the PGA, it's not being launched til january, if anyone thinks setanta could afford to give away the channels for €15 a month after bidding for Live Prem and the PGA they're dreaming.

At present it is €15 per month, recently increased from €13 for Setanta. Judging by the article it seems it is set to rise again in January.

For those of you who pay for a full Sky package, why not opt for a Sky 4 mix + Setanta, works out cheaper. ;) Otherwise, thats a lot of TV to be watching!!

Has anyone actually diciphered what Setanta Golf will be showing that Sky Sports, RTE or BBC will NOT be showing? They say they have PGA golf, but then it seems that the other channels also have PGA... I'm trying to determine if it's worth getting.... or will I be paying the extra €€ for one tournament in 6 months. Himself is a devoted golf fan (if Padraig is playing).

the regular thurs - sunday pga tour will be on setanta now including the players championship and the Tour Championship, except for the four majors, BBC have Masters and Open, Sky have USPGA and US Open only (and Ryder Cup every 2nd Year), they will have the European tour still though, there may be one or two other special events but basically the noraml tour events are on setanta and the majors are split 2 for BBC and 2 for Sky

Sky will not be showing the PGA from next year I have ordered the Setana pakague for my Sky even tho I have the Sky Sports  if sky was too loose the football and henio cup I would change the package to cancel the sports but if you like to watch fotball rugby and golf you would need both sky and setanta (setanta is 15 euro a month)

As Sky subscribers we recently subscribed to Setanta sports esp for golf coverage at €15 per month which immediately jumped to €18 pm. On top of this for past few days we are getting no sat signal for 418 and 434 the 2 channels supplying golf coverage. Setanta referred me to Sky where I was told a service technician would need to be called out @ €100.
