Whenever I try to load any ISO I get

'Some applications(s) has locked the device.

It doesn't matter what ISO i try, all the same. Tried reinstalling Alcohol and no use. Any ideas?

Lol so you want help in bypassing copyright protection on software.
Think about your post and delete it :D

I don't see how you reached that conclusion, it is 100% perfect legal to run backups provided you own the original media, which in this case I do, it's actually an iso of the game Vietcong CD1 if you must know, which I own but is now too badly scratched to install, so I am using an iso. :)

Alcohol is actually nothing to do with bypassing copy protection, that stage of things is actually up to different applications, all Alcohol does is mount ISOs, it does not interfere in anyway with copy protection.

Umm its whats stopping the virtual device that drew me to the conclusion that you are looking for ways to bypass copyright protection as the "thing" thats stopping it is copyright protection and its working well on your pc :p

Nope, I've used this iso (VC CD1) before fine without any problems whatsoever, this only started happening tonight, Alcohol was working yesterday...

Anyway, I used Daemon tools instead worked fine, but still cannot get Alcohol to work...shame, as I much prefer Alcohol...

Again I'm not trying to bypass anything, the issue is not to do with copy protection, which by the way only kicks in when you try to run copy protected games, not when you try and mount them...:d

Anyway before this descends in anything illegal, all is well now....at least, in the sense that I have another solution. So if anyone has any idea whats causing the Alcohol error please share.

    Try the lattest version ?

Alcohol Soft Software can be evaluated for a free 30 day trial period with no limitations in capabilities, other than a restriction on the number of virtual drives available.

Technical support is available during the evaluation period - you can contact us via the support pages.

    Sorry guys,

I think there is a bit of confusion here. My question does not relate to piracy in anyway whatsoever - Alcohol is a 100% legal program and in no instance did I mention anything about piracy whatsoever.

I am receiving an error message when trying to mount ISO images, and it is not anything to do with bypassing copy protection. Copy protection bypassing would either entail replacing the game executable or cleaning the executable of its protection or similar, none of which I am doing in this instance, all I am trying to do is mount an image.

I am not looking for help installing illegal games or 'bypassing protection' and if I was quite frankly I wouldn't be dumb or ignorant enough to post it here, I am just genuinely stumped as to what this error message is and what is causing it.

    Thanks.

Weird one this. Try removing any traces of alcohol from the registery.

I prefer poweriso myself, Much easier and more powerfull them deamon and alcohol.

Did you install anything that uses Starforce or some other similarly anti-consumerist measure? I recall one that intentionally breaks utilities like Alcohol and Daemon Tools.

Nope, I had securom 7.x awhile back but I removed it fully about 2 weeks ago, and Alchohol was actually working fine until last night....

The latest version of Alcohol did actually work when I installed it. Just when I reinstall the older one, it still doesn't work. Strange that.
