    Anyone got any suggestions?

    Thanks!

Joe Kavanagh for Cork in the 99 football final could count, what a goal!!

John Fenton's ground strike v Limerick has got to be the greatest long range Hurling goal of all time.

Its probably fair to say that it is one of the best hurling goals ever. It went so quick that the camera couldn't keep up to it.

It was pure ridiculous that Michael Donnellan's run and point in the 1998 All-Ireland beat Fenton's goal in that "greatest GAA moments on T.V" thing that RTE made last year. Oh and by the way - I'm not from Cork (Galway actually)

Hurling - John Fenton's long range goal vs Limerick has to be the best ever. I was at that game as an 11 yr old, but was in the toilet when I heard the huge cheer that went up - I knew someone had scored a goal, but it was not until later on when I saw it on the TV that I knew how special it was...

    Any Ciaran McManus goal.

Martin Flanagan Westmeath v Laois Leinster Football Championship 1998 (I think) in O'Connor Park, brilliant run and shot buried into the top corner. Westmeath went onto win by four points.

Barney Rock v Galway in the 80's. Won the keepers kickout and lobbed him before he could get back to the goal line.

Not to forget Charlie Redmonds sideline ball that went through the Tyrone goalkeepers hands and into the goal in the 1995 All Ireland final.

    So true

Not sure how long range it was but Jimmy Nallen's goal for Mayo v Kerry in '96 AI semi was pretty good.

Pa Laide for Kerry v Clare in the Munster football final in '97.
Ciaran McManus scored a wonder-goal from distance versus Laois a few years back as well

Padraic Brogan for Mayo in Mayo v Dublin semi final replay 1985. Mayo were 6 or 7 points down at the time and Dublin pulled away again.

I think Fenton's goal should go down as a goalkeeping error rather than a great goal.

How do you figure that??? The sliothar was absolutley flying and Fenton hit it at the exact right time - when it was just low to the ground. The goalkeeper couldn't be blamed for that. If you go down that line of thinking, then every goal that a keeper lets in can be blamed on the goalie.

It was an excellent goal that couldn't be stopped by any keeper of the day.

I thinking you're mixing that up with something else.

Charlie's goal in the 1995 final was a 4 yard tap-in after great work by Jason Sherlock.

Ciaran Whelan scored a few screamers, one of which came in the All Ireland semi-final v Armagh in 2002.
Keith Barr also scored a couple of beauties.

But, in my opinion, the best football goal of all time came in the second half of the 1977 All Ireland semi-final.

Started off with a huge catch by Sean Doherty, the Dublin full back, on the edge of his own square. Doc collided with Kevin Moran as he caught the ball and fell heavily to the ground. He managed to keep a hold of the ball, got to his feet and launched the ball down field. A Kerryman seemed about to gain possession of the breaking ball in the middle of the field but in came Pat O'Neill with a big hit that dislodged the ball and Bobby Doyle grabbed it. Bobby offloaded to David Hickey who passed it forward to Tony Hanahoe. Hanahoe then picked out Bernard Brogan who was charging forward from midfield. Bernard, hopped it, toe-tapped it, then buried it into the top corner.

I was pretty convinced that was Charlie Redmond who took a sideline/free and scored when the keeper let it slip through his hands. It was a wet day against a northern team.....thought it was the all ireland final between dublin and tyrone in 95?

Well if he did score such a goal against a Northern team, it wasnt in the championship.

The Meath keeper made a bad mistake against us one year in the championship, think it was 93 or 94. Can't remember who had taken the shot.

Karol Mannion for St Brigids v Corofin last Sunday - also was 3rd minute of injury time to win by 1.

Ken Dunnes 65 for Toomervara...straight into top corner although there was a misjudgement by the keeper, it still looks really good

Derek Duggans famous free-kick against Mayo in the 1990 ( I think) Connnaught final.

Heard he was 60 yards out and knocked it over to earn a replay which Roscommon won.

karl mannion of roscommon playing in the connaught club final 2006 for st bridgets v crossmolina, dying seconds of the game takes a blast from around where half forwards would be, sown on tg4. quality considering it was th winning score in the last seconds of the game

after or before that prob any cieran mcmanus stormers

It was St. Brigets versus Corofin from Galway in the 2006 Connacht club final, not Crossmolina

Does anybody have a video of Ciaran Whelan's goal against Armagh in 2002.

It is without doubt in the top three Championship goals of this decade

Seamus Darby's has not been mentioned and also Eamonn O'Hara's in the Connacht final spring to mind.

    And of course Ciaran Whelan:)

Somehow I imagine after 3 years the OP has already compiled the list :P

But either way, Tony Browne v Cork in 02 or Paul Flynn v Cork in 04.

Monaghan's goal against Meath in the League Final a few years back, I think it was 2006. Last kick of the game, to win the match, from a 45. Sent it in to the square and caused chaos among the Meath backs, somehow ended up in the net. Not a great goal, but a decisive one.

This is an old thread, like Daysha said the OP probably has compiled a list by now, so I am locking this thread.
