Check the performance figures on all the pensions in the newspapers.

Eagle Star are doing pretty good at present. There's a few very bad pension funds which will stick out a mile once you read up a little

Can you not leave your pension in your existing companies scheme?

There is no 'one right answer' to this question. What is your attitude to risk? How big is this investment in reference to your overall investment portfolio?

there are a number of factors that need to be considered when talking about your pension.

your salary, age, living expenses, attitude to risk and what retirement options you want to have available to you when you retire - there are many different options available now such as ARF's etc which are specialist pension funds which you manage in your own way.

you also need to look at charges and the performances of funds over a consistent term

if you want further explanations - post a reply

Was the company you worked for wound up?

    Really need more info,,,

I transferred my pension into an Irish Life Pension Retirement Bond, and got 107% Allocation.

As far as I know it's illegal for a company not to offer some sort of pension to all it's employees now. Even if it's only the incredibly useless PRSA. If you had a pension before with some financial company then you should be able to continue paying into that, unless you cashed it in.

My company pension is with BOI Asset Management and I think it's pretty good.
