I will so be along to this, outdoor seated event, Rod singing all the old songs and returning to his roots! My parents used to listen to Rod back in the 70s and I used to think they were mad till I start listening to a lot of his back catalogue and realising I liked him more then most of the artists around today!

that wasnt the point he was making. refer to the metal gigs in Dublin thread.

    anywho, i laughed :)

also, i may be wrong, i'm no expert on Rod Stewart (mostly coz i think he's ****), but i remember someone saying he hasnt aged well, a la Bob Dylan.

Do people understand what smileys are for - sarcasm!

    [edit]
To clarify, I was making a point albeit in an abrasive manner and I apologise for the flame and troll.

Outdoor allseater gigs are wrong. period. And in fact, i'm not so sure about indoor all seaters either....I've got a dream rod stewart setlist in my head that I'd kill to hear him perform. Sadly, I don't think that tunes like 'Cindy Incidentally' and 'In a Broken Dream' will get much of an airing...

It'd seem from a cursory look at the TM website that one can get €86 tickets in Row L which would certainly give the impression that hot cake merchants won't have any cause for concern about relatively sluggish comparative sales...

It's a shame, in a way; the bluesy rock he did in the early 70's with the faces (and before you lot get sniffy, he was good enough for John Peel to appear onstage with him!) was out of the top drawer. Sadly he seems to have decided that slushy ballads are where its at. 'Course the kind of folks who'll buy into that will not be the kind to go to an outdoor gig...

If, on t'other hand, he offered a bog standard rock'n'roll show with no seating, he'd have half a chance...

Right - that's it, i'm off to become a concert promoter, I obv know everything about this kind of thing...
