Hello, Have a bit of a strange question(s).

I'm going to order a set of PA speakers and A PA Amp. Now I'm not spending much at all. I've always wanted a PA system for the house as I love playing the Semi-acoustic through them. This PA system might also be used for light gigging but nothing too professional, Loud music at home ( Detatched house ) and this coming Xmas, I said I'd run an Xmas party at a function room, Which I have been doing for several years now, But with use of somebody else's equiptment.

Bear in mind I amn't looking for anything TOO Profesional, Just something, Basic.. Loud and ... something that'll do the job and cheap.

Here's what I had in mind. I chose these speakers because its all thomann have in stock around this price range, And around the music room in the house, They'll be small enough and not OTT. Also, can you tell me if they are the right speaker cables for between the AMP and the Speakers. And are 10" Divers in a PA system adequate for Loud / Clear music ... ?

Any advice or suggestions welcome once AROUND that price range.

Ok that setup is around €300, but you can get a much better system IMO for a little more. I'd say get 2 12" active thomann tops, PA202-12A's, I use a pair of them and they do the trick, theyre €198 each. No matter which system you get youll need a small mixer. Those active 12" tops take male XLR ins so youll need jack to male XLR cables for the speakers if you get a small mixer with No XLR outs.

I'll see, I'll take into consideration them speakers alright.

So about these setups, How capable are they ? They produce loud and clear sound mainly for Music play back.. and if they we're ever used for small gigging i'd be for the vocals mainly.. Any Ideas ?

Whatever amp/speakers you get you will need a passive mixer. Something behringer would probably do you fine.

The speakon cables you selected would be perfect for that system. It's going to put out around 240watts total RMS which is fine for your house, as are the 10" drivers. I think for a function room it's going to be a pretty weedy though. You'd want to be looking at 12" or 15" drivers and 200-300 watts RMS per side at the least. What freakonaleashx suggested would be better for that. I would go so far as to suggest you go further and get 2 of these ones - http://www.thomann.de/ie/the_box_pa502a_aktives_fullrangesystem.htm

Again active, so you wouldn't need an amp.

They'll work, that's what they're designed for. I think these ones are particularly good for the money. If you're hoping someone will tell you they're as good as a €2500 EV setup, forget it. You're only getting what you pay for.

If you want to the get the most out of this I'd invest in a graphic eq as well tbh. But at the same time, that will do you no good if you don't know how to tune it.

I have a mixer of my own, I do a bit of home recording and the likes and I have a fair bit of equiptment already, So I have a fair idea about sound but its just a PA system, I've never actually owned one long enough to know what they are capable off and what I might need.

This function room I speak off isn't so large now, but I do understand you're points.

Look at musicstore.com, How reliable are they? I've bought a fair bit off thomann and they have been quite reliable and on time with deliveries,Anyone bought off music store..? I see a cheap set of Peavey's for sale there ( passive ) and with 12" Bass/mid Driver. Any good?
