I was there on honeymoon 6 years ago in September.Boy was it hot (Mid 40s).We stayed in Luxor and Hurghada and did a 3 day Nile Cruise. Its a very interesting country with lots of history. In the Luxor area you have the valley of the kings and a few temples.

I'm a keen scuba diver so I was in my element when we were in hurghada at the red sea.The beach was at the end of the hotel as was the dive centre. We stayed in the Hilton Resort. The diving is amazing.

TBH you generally stick to your hotel because the locals are very annoying regards haggling and the standards of hygiene may not be very good outside your hotel.

You also have to be up early in the morning to do excursions because of the heat.I don't know what it would be like in April?

We also did a day trip to Cairo. It's one of the most chaotic dirty cities I was ever in but you have to see the pyramids and the Syphnx.

Also you will be guaranteed to get the tummy bug.Anybody that I know who was there suffered.

Overall it's a really nice country and I wouldn't mind going back prob to Hurghada to the Red Sea though.

    Enjoy

April is a good time to go I was there the end of april and it was getting a bit unbearable in the south in Aswan but was pleasant everywhere else
Great hotels are very affordable there if you want 5 star experience
Floating down the nile in a felucca is magical -You could hire a felucca just for the 2 of you very cheaply but you may prefer more facilities .
I agree that the locals can drive you mad you need a sense of humour but the sights are amazing and very good value country -Food also is fantastic
I would tour around if I was you try to go to cairo its market is huge and laods of bargains in perfume ,jewlery etc ,Aswan is beautiful You could head over from there to the red sea and veg for a week -Maybe do that 1st so that you can recover from the wedding 1st and then travel around ? 2 weeks is a bit short I found for this
