    ... i have a problem
i got eircom wireless bb a couple days ago and tried to set it up
i bouth the belkin wireless "G" adapter
    http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Merchant_Id=&Product_Id=179211
i cant connect to the internet, ran the eircom self help test and it says the problem lies between the router and my computer

i have a feeling ive entered the wrong code somewhere, sure its in the belkin wireless connection. it asks for the "key" so i tried entering the WEP key but its 20-something characters long when the password is supposed to be ten.

would the key i have to enter be the SSID or the SN? because ive tried them both and none seem to work. any ides on what the key might be?

Connect to the eircom router with an ethernet cable. Go into the configuration and change the encryption settings from WEP (the default) to WPA.

Besides being practically worthless from an encryption point of view, WEP is a horrible mess of incompatiblity, with some vendors wanting HEX keys, and others wanting alphanumberic passwords. WPA is both more secure, and far, far easier to configure, with none of this incompatible nonsense when you use gear from different vendors.
