having played almost exclusively mtt's and sit and go's for the past few years im thinking of starting to give online cash games a serious bash.
im wondering how all the successful winning online cash players on here like mr. pillowtalk, hectorjelly etc would recommend how to get going.

do you play for a certain amount of time per day or do you try and win a certain amount per day??
do you always buy into a table for the maximum amount??
how many max buy ins should you have for your chosen limits??

    any insights/help much appreciated

I don't set myself a target for the day as Poker just doesn't work like that, how can u set a target in a game where u can easily lose hundreds or thousands depending on the level u play without doing nothing wrong!? and if u r playing good and winning why would u set urself an artificial halt to this. So basically the only target I think u should set is how many hours u r going 2 play for, if u wanted 2 set a loss limit I think this is reasonable instead of digging urself a further hole though I don't implicitly do this myself, I have decided to just call it a day after a few bad losing sessions or after some particularly horrendous bad piece of luck as have learned da hardway that this these kind of happenings don't help u 2 play proper poker.

As for playing for certain amount of time per day - I normally play too much... I start shortly after I get out of bed ... though I don't play constantly throughout the whole day... but my real serious poker doesn't seem 2 kick in until the evening.. so though I don't do it as yet I think quality hours over quantity is better and u r really better off just playing those hours where the games u like are in abundance and u r feeling up 4 it. Goign 2 have to start following my own advice on that one

I normally buy-in for the max in my chosen limit - though I will buy-in for less sometimes - e.g. I have sat down for raggedy amounts on empty table sometimes to tempt people on to my table as they suspect given the amounti have sat down with I'm desperate ... this has worked out nicely for me in da past :)
Also when i couldn't find a game at my 'chosen' limit thast i like i might play in a level above - in this case particularly in plo i might buy in for less than the max.

Anyway gotta dash now but thats my thoughts on it.
