Does anyone know why dell only have low end graphics cards or top of the range cards, in both theyre laptops and desktops? Why isn't there an in-between option?

Good business sense I guess. You can have the basic or the "fancy". Most people are happy with that. Dell are not komplett. You can always accept the default and buy your own choice elsewhere.

Most people buying a Dell machine would be happy with the GMA, let alone even a low end dedicated card, so they probably don't really need to offer a mid-range solution....They have the better cards there to force gamers to take them, and the low end options for everyone else.

Although sometimes they can be generous with the options, from time to time, just not all that often though.

Best thing to do is just take the crap card and put in a better one yourself, because DELL will charge you much more then the upgrade is worth.

About two years ago they used to have the option of the X300, X600 and X800 - rangely decent range to cater for everyone. Now it seems to be either the 7300LE - useless - and the 7900GS - excellent. Laptops wise, they have an ok selection, but rape you on prices again.

Its companys like dell that are making alot of people turn to the build your own. Choose your spec, as you want it. You still have a warrenty for parts. Even after the warrenty you have the sales of goods act on your side, which states a prduct should last a decent ammount of time.

    Plus its alot cheaper.
