Patches for the PS2- How do they work?

Bought PES6 for the PS2 quite recently and i have heard a good deal about patches and the like that you can get for the games to give you all the proper kits and stuff like that....just wondering how do they actually work these patches? where do you get them? how do you get them onto your PS?

You need to be able to back up your copy and play the back up.

You need a modded Ps2 either by chip or hard drive to run the patched backup. An unmodded Ps2 cant run patched games.

A good option file is about as good as it will get for you if you dont have the above.
