    PP Gold Cup

Butler's Cabin at 25/1 is too tempting (E/W)

sure it steps up in class, but that was due and its the bottom weight

won 3 weeks in cheltenham over the same distance/ground as well

    3.15 Kempton

    ODESSA STAR

Won comortably in a race identicle to this 4 months ago (same track/class/distance/jockey/weight)

It also should be the price it was then too...16/1

I have to back it as i backed it that very day it won....great chance of doing it again, you never really know with the all weather racing though

    12.50 Cheltenham

Is It Me (e/w if its 10/1 as forecasted)

Great record with jockey..has won 6 of its last 7 (2nd the other time)

Star De Mohaision and Vodka Bleu for me.

SDM is one who I think can have a great season this year and this should be a good confidence booster to kick the campaign off.

Vodka Bleu - David Pipe's name is on the race cards but don't be fooled, Martin is still very much at the party and there's no reason to think that this year will be any different from previous ones.

Kandjar D'allier - PP Gold Cup

Very good horse on its day and if producing its best tomorrow would have to have major claims here in a wide open handicap.Currently priced at 10/1,hoping for bigger tomorrow.

    Mister Hight 2.00 NAAS

Pipe opener last time at Leopardstown, should come on for the run and should make the frame here having the benefit of race experience on its side over the most of the field.

    Blu Manruna 12.05 Lingfield.

Yet to win a race after 20 odd starts, will give it one last chance E/W.

    Ashwell Lad 4.05 Uttoxeter

Saw this one run back in May and had it in the notebook as a future winner, its a dodgy betting race as there could be anything in the field but I will have a small nibble E/W just so it doesent slip through the net.

Couldn't agree more, Star De Mohaision is running off a mark nearly 30lb lower than his chase mark, will take some stopping tomorrow.

Vodka Bleu just shaded my pick in the Paddy Power ahead of Copsale Lad.

I can't decide between My Will and Idle Talk for the stayers race, might do some dutching on this race.

Does anybody think there is tremendous value in tumbling dice in the paddy power at 14s top 5 ew.

Similarly the 14/1 about take the stand later on is very good too i think. Very steady over course/distance and ground was too soft in last run

Exotic Dancer - PP Gold Cup

I think this horse is good value for money and has good experience in Chelt, not a bad jockey either. Should be placed..;)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,230 ✭✭✭scojones

Asides from one obvious choice I'm going to go with some outsiders today. There is just too much racing today so I'm going to concentrate on Cheltenham and Naas.

    Cheltenham
12.55 Marc of Brilliance should have no problem getting its nose infront of Total Victory today considering they are now on level terms. Providing it doesn't hang badly again that is. Currently trading at 12s makes it an attractive each way bet. unplaced

2.05 I agree with fade2black here, Tipperary All Star should take all the beating. 1st

2.40 Exotic Dancer is a cracking price at 22/1. This is a horse that Jonjo really respects and he has done brilliant work with it to bring it back to form after it cracked its pelvis two runs ago. He expects it to run a big one today and at 22/1 I just can't let it go without having a few quid on it.
    EDIT: Damn you tdavfc! :)1st

3.45 Tribal Venture will take all the beating here. Its last two races were setting it up for this and I expect it to run well. There is no problem with the distance and going and its mark isn't too bad either.
    unplaced
    Naas
1.30 Royal County Star goes chasing today in a contest that certainly isn't beyond it. How it takes to chasing is guess work but I don't think it will do too badly today. Currently trading at 16/1 its another outsider that I think has good place prospects. Distance and going are not an issue and it should be able to deal with 11-12. unplaced

2.30 Allez Petit Luis should run away with this. I expect Anxious Moments to follow it home and I'll certainly be dutching both of these. 2nd

3.00 Kings Glen ended his chasing spell early this year in good style and was expected to do well in Aintree when sent over. It was relatively in touch when it unseated Philip. It has done well enough over Hurdles in the past and at one stage had a rating of 100 with the racing post. I've no doubt its a better chaser than hurdler which is why its 16/1 but a place here is not alot to ask of it. Watch this horse when it goes chasing again, I wouldn't be surprised to see it win over at the Aintree festival a few weeks after Cheltenham. unplaced

    Dissitation 8.30 Wolves
9/4 at the moment with Eddie Aherne booked to ride, good all-weather Jockey, remains to be seen if the horse handles the track but if it does would have to have claims in a race of this callibre.

Gamblor - was looking through the form this morning and also noticed Butlers Cabin and agree with your assessment. The only thing that I was curious about is that this is a JP McManus horse so you'd expect McCoy to be on him but maybe they want the claimer to take more weight off here to give him a good chance even though as you say he steps up in class today. Positives have got to be that he is a C&D winner off a higher weight, (albeit in a lower class) but he'd would have to be an e/w bet at the price today especially with PP who are paying out on 5 places.

A cheeky each way in the 3:55 at Lingfield is Marko Jadeo. Used to be owned by a mate of mine and has been hit and miss over on the all weather but if things fall right in this company today he could win at a nice double figure price.

I think 2/1 for Kandjar DAllier to be placed is a great price in the Paddy Power Gold Cup Chase. The weight should be an advantage here. Thornton has a nice profitable record at Cheltenham, and this top RP rated horse is proven on the distance. While Im on Vodka Blue for the win, I'll probably have a tiny win bet on Kandjar DAllier too at 10/1. With four to be placed, I think it 2/1 is good value.

    Greatest jockey ever....

ended up just putting 3 bones each way on him due to its price (and got the place money for butlers cabin)

From now on i'm never backing a horse in an all weather race ever again...

Im finding more winners on the all-weather than anywhere else.

Some great tipping on this thread today lads. Helped myself to 140 lids from Victor Chandler from a €5 each-way bet on Exotic Dancer. Great Stuff.

    Thanks lads.

Cheers mate. It was a great ride by McCoy and I guess the reason it was such a big price was because of the broken pelvis two rides ago. My respect for Jonjo has gone up immensely after this. It takes some trainer to bring a horse back from that sort of injury to win at Cheltenham. Fair play to him.

I was a bit disappointed with Alez Petit Luis today, I was sure it was a banker.

Fair play to Ruby Walsh, he got a four timer today - which is absolutely brilliant at any race course, let alone Cheltenham.

I still think Kings Glen needs to be watched and I can see it winning at the Aintree festival after Cheltenham next year.

Hehe cheers dude. Fair play! It's one of the best feelings in the world seeing your horse cruising coming up the hill at Cheltenham. Exotic Dancer reminded me of Total Enjoyments win back in 2004. :)
