Ok....I'm not one to ordinarily be suspicious...but..a 4-7 shot drifts to near odds against..and then pulls up with steering trouble???

I was never a fan of this Horse. It was tipped all over the place for big things in the Chelt festival, and failed to deliver. The Chelt bumper is normally a good indicator of things to come, but not for this gelding.

I dunno if the ground suited him, I think he prefers a bit of cut (if memory etc...) I also understand the saddle slipped??

This was nothing to do with the ground though. I listened to Lungo give a very inplausible excuse for what happened. The official excuse is a saddle slipping. To me, this is too much of a coincidence.

So what are you saying then?

I'm not so much saying something...more asking something. A horse who is far superior in the ratings, forecast to be 4/7...is that price and shorter in the morning and then on the opening show steadily drifts to near even money. Jumps and travels well, and then suddenly pulls up.

Mr. Lungo said afterwards that there would be other days...the horse jumped, landed hard, pulled a bit and then the saddle slipped. It's just too much of a coincedence for me.

I suppose you have a point to be suspicious. I've seen the ratings be woefully out in the past.

My point about the going is that while he may have been travelling well, we don't know what feedback the jockey was getting from the horse. I've looked up his form, and he is more consistant over muck than ice. So while he may have travelled well, the pilot may have felt that it was doing the horse no good.

I've also noticed that it was Mercer's first ride on this horse.

My pontificating about the horse's past runs, is merely a sign of my frustation with this horse. He should be better, but he's not or it could be that somebody close to the horse felt that it was not going to be his day, and the whisper got out, or it could be that somebody felt that the horse was overrated and took a big punt on laying him (what vision I here you cry!!) .

It could just be that the saddle slipped?? :)

I hope this incident is investigated as it seemed like a very odd betting pattern before the off.The prospect of the horse being layed heavily just before the off throws suspiscion ot the result imho.

Totally agree with you,but still no good to muggins here who backed him, surely when the saddle slips you can still steer the horse, the more I watch the replay of the race and the betting patterns, the more suspicious I get.
