Route 4 Bendy bus - "bouncy bus"?

I have used "bendy busses" elsewhere in Europe but, I have never been on anything worse than those "things" on the No 4 route.

The entire centre of the bus bounces up and down voilently on relatively smooth city centre roads. It's quite sickening if you sit in the middle of the bus.

Is it a design flaw or what?

There is no Artic Buses in Cork.

The poster is referring to the Dublin Bus Rte No. 4. TBH I haven't been on the AW type bus in ages.

Aah, I didn't realise that there was a No. 4 route and coupled with the OPs location as Cork, I put two and two together and came up with 5.

If it's DB then it is more than likely a Volvo. The only other bendys that I'm aware of here are Mercedes Citaro's. IMO the Volvos have better suspension, giving a softer ride but the Citaro is more passenger friendly and easier to drive.

I can't answer the OPs question though!

They are Volvo B7LA they are in service all over Europe so I don't think it is a design flaw

    It is probably

1 the road is not as good as it looked

2 That the particular bus had a fault with the electronically controlled air suspension

3 that the bus had a puncture or under or over inflated tyres

If it is an ongoing problem you might want to contact Harristown bus garage
or DB head office as the ride the driver is experiencing at the front of the bus may be completely different to the ride you were experiencing further down the bus

I think the 'bend' will always have the worst ride as you are dealing with the vibration resulting from the dynamics of both parts of the vehicle.

The best ride on any bus is (downstairs) between the two front axels, as the variation due to bumps, turns, etc. is minimized there, as is noise.

And the No. 4 goes to Ballyphehane, nowhere near the No. 5. ;)

Its a bloody dire design for the route it services either way, feck all seats, a corridor so narrow you need to nearly climb over anyone whos standing in it to get off and jesus, in good weather the back seats are as hot and smelly as a festival toilet at midday.

Actually i was on a few that over heated during the summer
