I've been reading the boards for months but haven't really posted, since I saw the guy before me introduce himself this way, I thought it only polite to do likewise

My name is Andy Mac Laughlin, and my (vast!) experience in martial arts consists entirely in the five months of judo I did at university and four months training with Sh
ane Thomas in Kokoro (Going Back next week illness permitting) I hope MMA trainig will get me back to my optimum physical shape, fitness wise and weight wise, and eventually hope to compete inside the ring or cage sometime.
Someone please acknowledge me!!!!! It's so hard sticking your neck out on the line by creating your own thread!:)

    Hi Andy,
I am also a sort of beginner. I am one of the old geezers that trains (sporadically) with Roper. MMA should get you fit alright. Best of luck with it.

    Hi Andy,

Welcome to the forums. MMA training should get you fit, if it doesn't somethings amiss! Fitness is one of those things that you get out only what you put in, though in my vast experience of MMA its hard not to put in a lot of effort, you get tapped real quick otherwise!

Anywho, good luck with the training!

    Hey Andy,
Welcome to the martial arts forum. Yes Andy, the road you are on is a rocky one indeed, fraught with many dangerous and a whole lot of bullsh1t. But all along the road are many gifts and treasures. Here is a simple equation to help you.

    MMA=Fitness=More babes.

    Also, chicks dig scars.
    Oh, and wrestling injuries.

hehehe, never heard of it, is it a real gym in ireland?

    Hey,
Hammerhead gym doesn't exist yet, but i did register the domain name.
I actually had a place going in Mountjoy square but my thai guy is now in Thailand and my BJJ guy is now injured beyond all use, so no more.
I currently train in K.O. Martial arts in Glasnevin and Bridgestone. I'm off to Thailand in January, for a year, then over to Top Team in Brazil for a year or two and then I'll re-open my own place.

Oh right, never knew there was a club there. I would have dropped down had I known. So you had a thai guy and a BJJ guy, were you the clinch guy then? I might be at barry's on sunday os might see you there.

brazil will be fantastic i'd expect.

    Hey Rabbit,
yeah, we didnt advertise, cause it was such as crap hole. Leaky roof, asbestos roof, draughty, ice cold. But it had a large matted area, two punchbags and lots of kit. It was mostly a fight club for bouncers and our mates :) Although towards the end it was mostly waiters.

Oh and i dont go to barry's on sunday, i work instead which is about as much fun :(

    Hello Andy.

Judo/JiuJitsu were my first arts around 1966-1970. My JJ instructor taught Judo as it was accepted as more sport-atheletic in the YMCA. As we had advanced or became in his favor, we had extreme JJ work outs. Coming from a Italian family, kin, esp, my father, were consternated. in those days, pugilism was on stronghold. After those ares i had studied Karate. Strange, how these pugilists will train in Judo and become consternate once again upon me studying Karate. (More on my background, history, observations and experiences later)

Rolling rolling rolling! If you don't look out of place among the blues you get your belt. I don't think I'm there yet but it'll be interesting/demoralising to see how near/far off I am.:D
