Ive installed mcafee recently and thought i had it sorted but there seems to be a problem. I get a prompt appear ever minute stating "Some componants of Activeshield are either missing or might not have been installed properly", so i tried uninstalling it to install it again but it wont uninstall, also i tried dissabling McAfee but nothing, and i also ctrl +alt + del and stoping the prompt appearing and ending it pop up tree but nothing ! Its really annoying i cant even leave it alone in a corner in my screen because it reprompts itself every minute. So please if theres anyone out there that can even tell me how to remove it from the system please help.

Sorry about the long thread :(

Click Start->Run->services.msc in the box and then look through the list for anything McAfee related (sorry I don't know the exact process) and in the left pane there should be a Stop button, you can also disable the process from starting again. See if that helps.

Do a re-install, you won't get that prompt unless it's been damaged, either by installing some program or malware.

stopping the services will stop popup, but will mean that you are not protected from viruses.

In the same Services area that you stopped the McAfee Service, right click on the service you wish to stop, then Properties and then select Disabled from the Startup type dropdown menu. That will stop it from starting up permanently. It might allow you to uninstall it then, there might be a tool on the McAfee website to help with that. Get AVG or Anti-Vir (both have free versions) and that will do the trick.
