Anybody else looking forward to this? I have to say the concept intrigued me and learning more about it portrays it in a unique light which only strenthens my desire to see it.

Wired mag had an interesting article on the director Darren Aronofsky, who did requiem for a dream.

Read the comic... excuse me - graphic novel - and enjoyed it well enough, but it did seem to me to be a very tough nut to crack. It's not told in a particularly accessible way.

In any case, it'll be interesting to look at.

Ah yes, I believe however, the film is slightly different than the Grahic novel which was based on the $70 million budget when brad pitt was onboard.

Yeah really looking forward to this as well. Apart from seeing the trailer and and basic concept I don't really know what to expect. I've avoided reviews as I don't want to go in with too many preconceptions. Looks really interesting tho. Requiem for a Dream was excellent.

Big Aronfsky fan and very much looking foward to this. Sounds like a very good concept and the trailer is excellent. Ignoring reviews myself, trying to wreck the buzz. Lousy critics :p

I remember reading about this film about 2 years ago when Brad Pitt was set to do it but he left this project to do Troy instead, it also had a huge budget at the time but i think this one is a lot lot less than it would have been at the time. Another interesting little thing about the original plans for this film is they had built a big pyramid for the film, i think it cost around 400,000 but when the film looked to be dead in the water they auctioned off every single piece of the structure and lost quite a bit of money i think.

Exact same here! Following this from way back. Glad Pitt is not in it. Have read some mixed reviews of it so far but can't wait. Loved his other 2 pieces of work and have high hopes for this.

Just a little OT but wasn't he supposed to direct an episode of Lost? Did this happen?

Yeah... it was supposed to be a season two episode, but then it was going to be a season three episode last I heard about it... Haven't heard anything about it in a while. I wonder if he'd do a Charlie flashback episode.

I've noticed the reviews haven't been great for The Fountain, but I'm putting that down more to people not understanding the plot.

Just came across this blog from last week saying he has had to back out of the agreement, pity if it's true :(

I fully agree with what you are saying about the bad reviews. There was one review in particular which was excellent, but you could tell the reviewer understood the film. Can't find it now.
