It just deleted my favourites...for seemingly, no reason. Heard of this happening before.

Anyone know how to get them back ?

    Cheers.

Was this during an upgrade from FF1.5 to FF2?

    Either way, look here

    Hope it helps...:)

    Look inside
C:\Documents and Settings\your user name\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\*****.default which is your profile folder. There should be a "bookmarkbackups" folder unless you are running a old version, just re-import the most recent one.

As for the error I recall hearing about something like that though it was a bug in one of the older builds possibly pre 1.5.x.x or an early 1.5 build not sure, Mozillazine forums would reveal more info.

The bug is definitely present in FF2 installer. If Tusky's error was caused by an FF1.5 - FF2 install upgrade then the current mozillazine advice is to re-install FF2 rather than just re-import the bookmarks. The error is caused because firefox setup doesn't exit properly.

The advice is given because there is a small possibility that other, as yet unknown errors have occurred that may cause a security breach, unlikely but possible.

If the error was not caused by an FF1.5-FF2 install then follow 8T8's advice but also look at the mozillazine link I gave you for more info.

When all this is done Tusky, export your bookmarks to a file and save them on your desktop, that way you shouldn't lose them again barring any catastrophe. :)
