Ok so basically I need to reactivate a Hotmail account I havent logged into in over 2 years and the usual password doesnt seem to be working. There are some old friends contacts I need to get out of here as well as some old college related drafts. Is it a lost cause or is there a way of getting this back open?

AFAIK you could get it back but Hotmail has changed a lot over the last two years, specifically by adding the 30 days of inactivity clause.

Why not try to recover your password by clicking the "Forgot your password?" link which is on every login screen??

Also your mail will most likely be gone.

Also, though it probably wont help much, I would like to add that Hotmail is the biggest load of sh!te I have ever used in my entire life.

I'm not sure if you'll be able to reopen it at all, someone else might be able to tell you that but I do know if you do reopen it, that all your emails and drafts will definately be gone...

    Sorry...

There's no way you'll get your old stuff back I reckon.

You can reopen it by signing up again with the same name but it won't keep the mail, your mails will have been removed ages ago.

BTW I mean the account, not the contents.

Either sign up again or just recover your password...

Failing that why not email the hotmail guys and ask them...

Thanks again. If the old emails and drafts are gone then its not worth the hassle.

Yes, your mail will be gone, not sure about the contacts though. I had to re-register my account a long time ago and the contacts remained but after two years...you'll have to wait and see.

While Gmail and Yahoo mail far surpass Hotmail in terms of features and storage capacity in fairness to M$ they have managed to reduce the amount of junk mail I get from about 50 a day to about 2 per day. My Gmail account now get about 30 spam mails a day! Will still stick with Gmail though :)

I think contacts might still be there but ALL email will defo be gone. I lost years worths of emails because I missed the 30day deadline by a few days. Its a stupid idea and a very small amount of storage as well. I'll be sticking with gmail and my 2.7+gigs of storage.

By all means try the account see if you can get your contacts back but once you do ditch them and use gmail or any other service.
