    Under a Bushel

    Don’t judge a man by what he has,
    But measure him by what he dreams.
    Not by what’s in his well worn pockets,
    But by what’s up his thread bare sleeves.

    Any thoughts very welcome and appriciated

    This poem is interesting to me but what is the background to it?

    Hi all,

    Well the background to the thing is that I was listening to The Pouges "A Rainy Night In Soho" and the line "A measure of my dreams" was going around my head.

    5 mins later.....taa daa!

    I liked this poem, it's quite powerful... But I somehow felt like it was unfinished? I don't know if it was the rhytm of it or something but it felt like it stopped a bit suddenly and there should really have been more to it?

    But a good choice of words and images! :)

    It reads like an old proverb but it is really interesting and excellent

    Hi all,

    Thanks for all the feedback, very much appriciated.

    Your right about it ending sudenly and seemding to "ASK" for another bit but im kinda stuck between 2 pillars.

    The first is the "P.T. Barnam" approch which is leave em wantin more.
    The 2nd is that I could f@!k up the rest for it and ruin a good verse lol.

    I think I'll leave it be for noew and if it happend to grow then so be it.

    Anywhoo thanks again

    I really like it, it's very like a proverb, like BAB suggested. It's a bit short though

    Matt, I've warned you before about making absolutely no sense before. This is the last warning.

    kNOTS OF PEOPLE
    ; tied by sense;
    avoid the gutteral gurgling rain.

    But others,
    hung from drumming brollies,
    dam the flood in dripping ranks,
    while a dunked hot dog
    ;with no choice or change of clothes;
    only pants.:cool:

    RESPONCE WOULD BE NICE TA.:cool:
