    Hi,

I have this problem also, and it probably costs me about €500e per month, good to know I'm not the only one experiencing it.

I was with Irish Broadband, via a satellite, I switched to NTL once it became available, having been told it would be more reliable than a satellite, I still experience the problem tho.

All I can say is that broadband is likely about 10 years behind most of Europe, I asked my friends from around europe if there internet ever 'drops' and all I get are bemused confused looks, they have never heard of such a thing.

I guess for them, it is like it should be, like water from the tap, or when they turn on a lightswitch, how often does our electricity go? I think its happened maybe twice for an hour in the last couple of years.

I did get some problems when i was on wireless but once i hooked up the ethernet cable instead of wireless i havent had any drops in weeks. From what ive heard alot of the these modemn in a box companies are very unreliable. If you stick to Eircom or Esat theyre usually pretty good with very few downtime, i cant really comment on the rest but ive used the above 2 with very little problems connection wise in the last year or so.

Dropping connection was one of the easiest way to put me on tilt so i got the problem sorted.

I am on IB - Using the business package (48 pm) with a pretty fast laptop and a wireless router. When it is operating correctly it is superfast upload and download etc. However when it starts having a brain-fart (which is too often for my liking) it is REALLY annoying, Some evenings it disconnects constantly every five minutes or so.
I certainly wouldnt reccommend IB I am thinking of changing.

Hvae you tried using and ethernet connection instead of wireless connection, i had the same problem with my esat wireless connection it would go down for 30-60 secs for a 10 minute period once or twice a day but since i changed to ethernet using the same modem and broadband its been perfect. Then again maybe it was a dodgy wireless adapter

don't worry just because you ordered it, it took months of been strung along to actually get an appointment, customer service didn't exist.

IB in my experience are to be avoided.

They are pretty much the only people I could get for less than 60 yoyo's who did not require me to put up a dish or get a my phone line activated....

I think the quality of IBB depends on how close you are to the mast. Hopefully im pretty close to the Ringsend one.....

I have netgear router, but NTL, perhaps they are the issue, sometimes it will be a week or 2 without problems, sometimes it will drop 50 times, usually, it drops a couple of times a day.
