    Played the Se last night

halfway through the night i got moved to mr pillowtalks table, im pretty sure we've never played together so he wouldnt have known me from adam.

Id just read his report on the ept (very good read i might add) and noticed he only had about 5k in chips, from reading his report i knew he was looking to get busy and as blinds were 200/400-50 i expected to see him move in regularly. this he did & he built his stack upto about 7.5k uncontested

Shortly afterward he moves all-in on my BB, i have about 20k and am comfortable enough, as its folded around im thinkin any Ace or decent K & i have to call this. I look down at AJ which is more than enough & call, pillow has Q8.

It wouldve been a tough call if i hadnt read his post last week, so that leads to the question above!!

BTW he hit trip Q's for a nice double up!!

    who won the hand?

You shouldn't have to read someone's report to know that they're gonna get busy with a shortstack and steal blinds...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,364 ✭✭✭Mr. Flibble

Was playing in a cash game and noticed someone calling somebody MrPillow/Eoin, so I decided not to treat him like a fish (although others did, paying off his set with a pair, when it was so blatently obvious that the only possible hand a decent player could have in that situation was a set), but didn't let him know I was a bordsie. Once you know people know who you are tho it is just back to psychology.

I certainly wouldn't like peops knowing who I was if I didn't know they knew. I don't call myself Mr. Flibble in real life :)

True. but I wouldnt call ~7k majorly shortstacked with blinds at 200/400-50

Yes. That guy (dark skin, english accent?) who paid him is some fish. My nemesis for the night too, couldn't get a hand against him :( until I got AK and had him call 60 pf with KTo oop only to get bluffed out of the pot later by a 3rd player (hh posted somewhere here).

I was on that table Mr. Flibble. i'm trying to think of who you are. The fish you're talking about has a very Irish accent. He's a degenerate gambler, absolute donk and loses his left testicle every second night playing poker and blackjack. He can be dangerous when he starts hitting though. Were you seats two to Eoins right?

Nice playing with you Mod, you were playing well from what I could see.

The blinds had just gone up to 300/600 with 100 ante, and at that point in the tournament I was happy to open push with marginal hands as the pot is allready 30% of my stack size. Im happy to get called by AJ there as Im not a big dog and I need to double up.

Also I didnt want to just survive untill 4am then go out with nothing anyway on a similar move Id rather get the chips early on. Its unusual for me to push with a rag ace because Im afraid of being dominated so when you call with AJ you should know your ahead of my range but you will rarely be better than 60/40 shot. I knew you had a big hand when you flat called that American girls ep raise and then the other guy came in with the huge raise with QQ, if he doesnt go mad there I quadruple up and get a ticket oh well.

Sometimes people find excuses to call me and make horrible plays, because they have read my posts here and that can be irritating when they hit however there are plus sides to that too. Not that I think your call was horrible or anything you were playing well at that table.

Hehe Eoin. I agree he's definitely one of the worst regular players in Dublin, but i've sene him do 10k in blackjack in 30 minutes, so a fw hundred on the poker table is chump change for him. I was trying not to laugh in that hand where you had the set of 4s, though I actually thought you had top or middle set. I think Solsjkaer was in that hand as well.

Just saw "Updated Blog 6/11/06". That should kill another few minutes in work.

Bloody hell I was wrecking my head to figure out who this was - he will pay you off every time.

EDIT: Also forced to wonder where the 10k could come from - to be fair you gotta love the way he can justify his calls.

is this Mick the same Mick as i think he is?
he is bald with a very strong irish accent and he kinda drops his lower lip in front of his upper lip when he wins a pot or when he thinks he has played well.
his calim to being an excellent player is that "you can never put me on a hand" or so he thinks.
he has it in his mind that he can play any hand simply becuase others (that are not good as him) will only play AA,KK,AK .
i cant stop laughing when i see his facial expressions at the table specially the lip thing...

    Hi pillowtalk,
I was the 'mad' QQ guy. You said cold deck??
Blinds 300-600, 100 ante so 1700 raise to 2400 and a call at 2400 so 6500 and you don't push with 14k with QQ? Considering i have no idea on modmuffins holding as he has recently joined the table, I'm interested in what your move is here?
    Thanks,
    Earmuffs,

Turn the sarcasometer on earmuffs you played it fine you just froze me out of the pot. Personally if I was you I would have probably just flat called I was pretty sure one of the other two were very strong but raise all in is fine there.

Can I tell ya from any conversation I have had with him about horses or from any discussion I have heard him have on horses that I have forgotten more about horses since I ate my breakfast this morning than this guy has ever known or wishes to know on the subject. If he got 10k from a win off the hods then it was, as I like to say, only a loan - in this instance he just didnt give it back to the originator.

Yes, perhaps it was a very Irish accent! Mick is the chap.
I was 2 or 3 to Eoin's right. Only was at the table for 3 or 4 rounds I think before getting moved. 25, tighter than the brake nuts on an F1 car.
Lloyd, I may have been at the same table as you too during the night. There was somebody called Lloyd there.

oh, and i was the guy who heard with 40 when he said one 40 and got a ruling in one pot with mick.

No I'm pretty sure he owns or shares ownership of a few horses. One of them called Jockser which has a had a few good wins in the past year.

Also I dont think Stuntman was describing Mick, but more the general populous in the SE ie Salmon jumpers, tattoos etc etc. I think he's working on the handlebar moustache himself to get a bit more recognition :p

yes I reckon if I can get recognition as a 'character', then you'll be so distracted by my appearance that I can milk you for all you're worth (feck all :) )

    Everybody is here! :)

Did he have a straight and you called an overbet with 2nd/bottom pair and he overbet the pot (as far is possible in PL at least) when he slowrolled you, you were sitting in seat 7/8, end of the table? I remember that hand. The slowroll wasn't nice.

Hmm.......forced to wonder where he could rally up 10k.

According to the man himself, over the weekend of the EPT..he won 5.5k in the SE on the Friday and then took 17K in the regency on the Saturday.. I was reliablely informed by a couple of people that the 5.5K story is true but the 17K regency bit is still to be confirmed.....

Good oul Mick is a great man to have at your table...if its checked to him, he will bet about 80% of the time..get a few callers, u raise and he pushes if he has around €100, which is usually his buy-in ..its like clockwork. usually your marginal hand is ahead here so its well worth the risk

Is this Mick the chap whose lip shakes when he has a hand? Always wears the same monochrome suit, looks like he channels his state pension straight into poker on the basis that 'you never know what cards are gonna come out?' If he has ever made money net anywhere I'm packing it in.

Solksjaer, LuckyLloyd, I was in seat 4 or 5 at the time of the slowrolling. 2 to the left of Mick, 1 to the left or the asian chap. I think you were at the table when I got that ruling; I raised in cutoff. about 5 callers. Flop KTx. Checked to me and i bet 35. Folded to Mick who says 140. I hear with 40, and see 3 25 chips in front of Mick which happens to be 35+40 so I stick in 40 more. Dealer says its 140 not 75 and I end up folding.

Just look for the guy folding his small blind to a table of limpers and you got me.

Is he an old guy with big glasses? I think I saw him cash in what every tournament was on in the fitz a few hours ago. I remember I played a rebuy tournament with him in the merrion and he used up all his rebuys in the first few levels...

There is an old guy called Mick who plays in the Fitz, calls everything, could have the nuts or 2 7 offsuit, grey hair flicked back, who smokes like a trouper and has the biggest set of ears ive ever seen,

Then theres Mick, who used to play in the Fitz now plays in the SE, who looks like a bald Paul McGrath who has just realised the bar has closed!!!

There is about 30 years difference in the ages,

I was wondering where Mick (Paul McGrath) had gone, he doesn't really come into the fitz anymore.
