Hey all i'm heading to New York in a few weeks time and want to get an ipod while i'm there could anyone recommend anywhere in particular to buy from or would i be saving the same amount of money no matter where i bought it from?

Would you recommend going for the 30Gb or 80Gb?

Also would anyone recommend any accesories for it that would be worth getting while i'm there like itrip or docking station etc?

    Thanks in advance

New York = BIG Apple Store! :D
I'm sure any decent taxi should be able to find you the "big glass cube".

There are a few apple stores but I think the big one is on fifth avenue (I know 5th ave is long but have a look at the store finder on apple.com) I would imaging that all stores will be the same price

on the size - I would go for the 80g - I know so many people who have the old 20g that are full now, and with music videos /podcasts and next year movies available to download it will fill up quickly (You can already convert other movies to ipod format but that is a whole other discussion)

As regards accessories - I dont think a charger is included now (only a usb cable) so this might be an option (you will also need a coverter from US 2 pin to Irish 3 pin but you can find this anywhere). Possibly an incar charger might be an option. There are also some decent leather holders with belt clips available. Other than that you will get plenty of ideas in the store.

Not quite an accessory but when I was in the states I bought a BOSE sounddock which was expensive (around 300 usd) but still way cheaper than here. The sound is fantastic and definitely the best speaker you can buy. It is a bit bulky to bring from the states especially if you are worried about customs.

The only other decision is whether you go for black or white

The Apple hq place. Id say 80GB, if theres not much between them, presuming you will use the space.

cool thanks for the replies i'll be on 5th avenue anyways so that'll be the handiest place to go. i think i'll go for the 80gb one... no point in spending a bit less on the 30gb one and then realising i want more space :) and colour wise i'm thinking black.... i'd love the bright pink you can get the nanos in but alas i'm afraid black will have to do :)

As said before, go to the one of 5th Avenue, not just for buying the iPod, its a really COOL store:D

the 30gb/80gb choice is up to you..

if your going to have a lot of videos/movies go for the 80gb, if not stay with the 30gb.

Can you load up songs/videos on your purchase in the store? Would be nice for the trip home!?

Any problem with warranty if something were to go wrong?
