    1. Can the Hd be upgraded to a larger capacity drive to hold more recordings?

    2. What format are the video files on the drive, like is it possible to remove the drive and insert on the your pc's ide cable, read and watch the videos and then record to CD/DVD rather than the ole VHS tape?

    1. Depends on which version you have. I upgraded my pace v2 to a 250GB HD.
    2. They are encoded in a proprietary Sky format so you can't access them via a PC.

Do the HD recordings require more space ?? Does anyone have an example of how much space for a 1 hour program on SD verus HD ?

If more space required do sky plan larger capaciity drives ?

Yes HD needs more space. About 2.5 to 3 times as much. If it was MPEG2, 5 to 6 times as much!
When SD moves to MPEG4, it will use nearly half of what it does now.

When the current drives are more expensive than the the larger ones, then they will upgrade. Guessing, maybe Q2 or Q3 in 2007. Non Sky satellite PVrs offer from 160GByte to 750GByte drives, but 200G to 320G is common.
