hi everyone. im a 6th year in tipperary and im very interested in psychology at trinity. however i have always dreamt of medicine since i was 14 and would still like the option of doing it after my psychology degree. if i was to do medicine i would do it in medical school in the US however their course requirements are very lengthy! is it possible to take courses in biology, physics and chem, outside my basic psychology degree. im not talking about an entirely seperate degree but a particular module which would be recognised as fulfilling one of the requirments of med schools. the broad curriculum may cover this but i still don not fully undertand it! any help??:D

The best you can do is Broad Curriculum in TCD, which is taking on one course for a few weeks in second or third year in a science subject. I doubt this would be enough. Have you thought about doing psychology in a different university that allows you take psychology through science. I'm not sure if you still can do this in UCD but you can do it in Maynooth. Or look at other places to do medicine maybe, do you have your heart set on the US for any particular reason? Is there any way around their entry requirements?

just do medicine and read the psychology books in your spare time.

Or do a psychology postgrad, which will also work out far, far cheaper than your current plan.

I have brothers doing medicine both in the US and the UK. (The US one is finished now) The UK brother has had no tuition fees, the US brother has had huge fees, even though he got a full scholarship.

If neither of these appeal, it's much easier to get into postgrad medicine in Prague, the Charles School of Medicine I think.

I'm pretty sure you'd kind of need an undergrad degree in a science though. Why did you choose an arts degree if you want to do medicine? It sort of makes it look like you're very undecided...
