will there be more tickets if the prize pool goes over 16k, or will the rest be cash prizes

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 276 ✭✭zsoulking

It’s all about the tickets, if we get a similar response as we had for the Barcelona and WSOP satellite then we should get around 8/10 tickets out for the EPM.
It’s just a slightly different strategy for games like this I find it very entertaining to watch.
Any cash that dose not make up a ticket will be used as prize money.
I don’t know anyone who wouldn’t want to qualify for the EPM for €315 and take on some of the best known poker players in the world. Not to mention the €350,000 up for grabs!!!!!

    John.

My AA no match for Eddie The Eagles 55.

    (im sick of it)

well **** that for a game of soldiers.

Build up get knocked back down rebuild again, then with 36 left and me with 17k a short stack pushes utg+1 for 10k I move all in with AK, he flips AQ. The three outer duly hits.

Very next hand I find K8, blinds are 500/1000 with 200 ante, I push, the Chief calls in the butoff for 75% of his stack he has K4 off (yes K4 off).

Flop 5 6 7 rainbow giving us both an open ender but me the top end

    turn A

    river 3 !!!!!

    **** that ****

I never believed the Chief rumours I allways thought that if the guy was making so many FT's he must be decent, but having seen him play first hand the guy is like a positive variance annomolly. Someone ask him what religon he is, cos his poker Gods are way better than mine I have to convert.

Honestly my bad run of luck in these things is becomming unbearable, every fakin three outer hits.

Went out of this not long after the break. Decided against getting an add on because of how poorly i'd been playing in the first few rounds. Best hand i saw by a long way was 99. Made some sloppy calls/bets the whole way through and the only big hand i won was when i luckboxed 2 pair on the river against smurf's AA.
Really disappointed overall, i just played like a loose passive cabbage

To change the tone of the thread I got a ticket!!!!! It was nervy stuff and I had to survive an all in against (I think) Goran with JJ vs AK when he raised my BB with 9 left. I hit an unnecessary J on the river. Shortstacks duly kept doubling up and Eddie the Eagle was the unlucky bubbler. At least 3 people immediately wanted to sell their ticket for around 2k, but damn it I am playing in this. No other boardies that I know of were at the final table. 7 tickets, and it got to be a crapshoot with about 3 or possibly more tables left, but apart from the JJ hand I was never really in any danger once I fairly luckily nearly trebled up with AQ vs QQ vs JJ. It's rare enough that I dog someone but the way the action went I think excused it mostly, not that I care too much now, or then even.

    Well Done Mr Pool..

There is often much talk about Eddie The Eagle and his style of play - now ive played plenty with him but last night was the first time I sat next to him.... Here is how this one plays out... Folded around to Eddie on the button who flat calls, SB completes and BB raises to 3.5x the BB. Eddie calls, SB calls. Flop comes A Q 4 (2 diamonds). SB picks up 700 and is about to bet when the BB gets excited with his holding and bets 500 out of turn.. Anyway it is explained bet out of turn, bet stands etc, MrSmallBlind says il call ur 500 (which is now out of turn again obviously) - Eddie flicks up his cards and I catch a glimpse of J9os - Eddie dwells for a minute and calls. No - u didnt read that incorrectly - yeah he called for RR straight draw. Now i laid down to him one day when I knew he had caught up with me on the river and he proclaimed he had hit the flush and showed it... Now after that I was left thinking "I bet the flop - wait what did he call with? RR flush draw"

    Well Done Dom.

I have to say, this was the worst standard of poker I've ever seen, I had a table full of muppets and I couldn't win a hand against any of them, so I decided to pump it before the flop with big hands, get the usual 4 to 5 calls, otherwise I tried to outplay them on the flop, but no bluffing as they call you with Ace high and 4 as kicker.

Even when I got big hands they kept outdrawing me, horrible night and was not a happy bunny. Worst part of it, these guys thought they were playing poker........

    Congrats Dom, WP

I played like a muppet in this. I overplayed JJ early on against a yank on a 775board. Obviously didnt put him a 7 but he had A7. Then the same guy called me on the river of a 36796 board with 44 to wound me badly and slightly tilt me.

Got really short stacked and pushed from the button for my last 1600 with AQs after 2 limpers and a small raise from the CO...the 2 limpers both called and the OR pushed for 4.2k. Both limpers called then they got it all in on a J44 flop.

The limpers each had 1010 and the OR had AA so i made my exit and hit the blackjack tables and p!ssed away €300 waitin on the cash game...not my most enjoyable night ever!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,914 ✭✭✭Washout

I too was on pretty much a table of of muppets...3 calling stations in cluding the chief and card dead = bad combonition....so i was uber rock for the night

i luckboxed a double up by pushing with 9c8c and geting called by AK..rivered a C for the flush.

down to 2 tables i pushed wqith j9...literally the best hand id seen in an hour and got called by KQo.

the standard was bloody awful though...sigh there is always next week

Nice one Dom and good luck with the Event, it should be great fun.

I had the strangest night ive had in a long time (playing cards anyway). Martin has been on a bad streak at the moment, he has had Aces cracked about 8 times in the last week, and ive been going yeah yeah, the bad beats make you stronger, blah blah, then we went into the SE. The last one of these Martin got the bubble when his Aces got done by runner runner straight, but that pokah:rolleyes:

So we head in, lucky coin intact ready for action. The table im on has alot of people I don't know, which considering the field is a good thing. I called a solid bet on a turn by a player who was connecting with cards, I had 10 9. There was a Jack of spades on the river, which made 3 spades on the board, so I decided to bet 2k representing the flush, little realising the Js made the top straight for the guy, he had AK so my 10's were ahead,

down to 1.5k and get AdAs Aces utg, decide to limp for 100 as there was a guy at the table who regularly raised the pot, but oh no not this time. Flop is Jd Js 10d, checked around, turn is 6d, this gives me nut flush draw etc. I bet 800 and it is raised to 1700 I call asking the guy to turn over the J but oh no he has J6offsuit so im drawing to a 2 outer, CHIPS please.

5k top up and I stay outta trouble for oh 2 hands, im on the button and look down at two Black Aces, there is no limping in this time Murphy, ship the chips into middle ASAP, there are a few limpers and the SB makes it 600 (glowingmind from boards), I make it 1.5k fold fold, he goes all in for 2.5k approximately, I call like a hot sn*t.
Cards over he has KQoffsuit, flop is x x Q turn x river K, down to 2.5K, and not a happy camper at all. Went for a little walk and back for my final assault at this game.

Down to 3K with last 3 hands called (this is after going as low as 1900 and working up to 3k). Last hand before the break, im on SB, it is raised to 700 and there is 2 callers I have Ah5h and think "ah I’ll peel a flop. Flop comes KhQh4h, happy days, yepee, pause for 5secs check, the other 2 check. Turn is the 8s, so I decide to bet 800, guy raises to 1,700 (same guy from above that I donated money to when he hit straight:o ) I shove all in remaining 800 or so, and flick over nuts, he turns over pockets 8's for a set, The most horrible ks comes on the river to complete the house and im gone.

2 bits of pizza and loads of cocktail sausages later (I vented on the food :p ) I reluctantly put my name down on the cash game. When you’re running cold the cash game in the SE can be a scary proposition. I buy in for 350 and decide that if that goes im going home, and probably not playing cards for a good week. On a feeder table which is really a non event and after about 40mins or so I get moved to the main Holdem table.

You know when you are playing a game and you see a player getting hit by the deck, someone who cannot lose any race, any outdraw, well that was me:D :D

If I Had A10 the flop was AA10, I proceeded to do a complete hoover up of chips for 2 hours, (sorry bottomfeeder) that is the hand that sticks in my mind. This is an example of what im talking about. Bottomfeeder raises to 15 and I call with JdQd, another player calls. Flop comes 8d 10d Kh, so ive got an open ended straight draw and flush draw, I bet 50, player calls and bottomfeeder goes all in for 175 I think I call and other player calls. Bottomfeeder has Set of kings and other player has 8,10 offsuit for 2pair, I get the 9h on the river to give me a straight and take in a huge pot.

Ended up winning €1,700 which for holdem is unreal, usually when the person with all the money leaves the table people are disappointed but to be honest I think they were glad to see the back of me. So with a happy heart and indigestion from the pizza I headed home for the obligatory 3hours sleep before work.

poker certainly is a funny old game:) :)

I agree the standard in general was very poor, the final table had only about 3-4 good players, and some awful ones. The game became a shove and hope fest from a good bit out with the blinds and antes.

    Hey Smurph,

I was the guy who had the indian sign on you ! The flop was certainly kind to me on those occasions early on. Unlucky.

Got knocked out in 32nd. 14k in chips.Blinds 300, 600. Call. Raise to 2400, seat beside me calls. I see QQ. Happy days. Push for 14k. Limper fold MP thinks and folds.(Said had 99)Seat beside me calls.AA and its goodnight to me. I thought the whole event was well run and the dealers very good and may enter next week again. Although one quibble would be the early introduction of antes at the 3/4th level. Didn't see the sense in that that early on.
Played some cash afterwards (at an absolutely crazy table).
    Anyway enjoyed the night.

Hard luck in the game Earmuffs, thanks be to god you didn't get moved to the table I was at in the cash game. Hope you got your buy-ins back and I have to say the tournament was good the antes do kick in fairly quickly but I suppose they are under time pressures.

yeh, thats true, they drag me down to your level.

Anyway, you should know to laydown AA against Eddie the Eagle....lol

If you spent more time on you game and less attention to the dealers, you would be a better player by at least 10%....lol. Is that why you go to the SE every night of the week?

that was me with the Aces earmuffs, very unlucky to run into the bullets. it was a nice positon i found myself in as there was 3 shortish stacks left to act who would push or fold so i just called the initial raise, and you duly obliged! UL gg.

I exited about 18th, i lost 3 races in a row, the last one for a 40k pot which wouldve had me in good shape but alas it wasnt to be...theres always next week i suppose

Glad to hear your luck turned around. Also glad i decided against going to play the cash tables after getting knocked out.

that was me with the Aces earmuffs, very unlucky to run into the bullets. it was a nice positon i found myself in as there was 3 shortish stacks left to act who would push or fold so i just called the initial raise, and you duly obliged! UL gg.

I exited about 18th, i lost 3 races in a row, the last one for a 40k pot which wouldve had me in good shape but alas it wasnt to be...theres always next week i suppose

UL.When i left you were far and away the chip leader at that table.
For that hand I had absolutely no idea what you had or might have had as i think you had only moved tables a level before? After the 1st break the play tightened up considerably at that table so took my chances with QQ.

It's rare enough that I dog someone but the way the action went I think excused it mostly, not that I care too much now, or then even.
congrats on getting a ticket. I was part of yur treble up with my JJ V QQ V yur AQ. I probably should have folded once the other guy called your re raise but i was in for 1500 and i couldnt keep waiting for kk or aa. Enjoyed playing with u both last night and at the boards.

Cheers, I was surprised when you tabled that hand to be honest, but it seemed despite dodging my set I was destined to get your chips last night :)

I'll repay the favour at some stage no doubt;) You never really got going last night.

yea and that was the reason for the bet. Kept getting 66 or 88 utg and got blinds at best,jj was the best hand i had all night. I was getting frustrated but in hindside maybe i should have folded. But sure its easy to say that now, well played

It that the standard Pl Holdem game in the SE?, €1,€2 obligatory raise to €7 blind (then if a guys on tilt raise to €25 blind!!!!), it was one of the loosest games of Holdem ive been involved in. There was definitely a "If in doubt, bet syndrome going on"

Anyway I hope you play in the full tilt game, I have no doubt you will certainly be able to hold your own with the best. Wonder what the Full Tilt Crew and players will make of the cash games after LMAO:p :p
