    Hi all
I need some help/suggestions .I'm looking for a 'green' Christmas present for a bloke. Max price €100.I would prefer if it was a tangible present that will last a long time as opposed to a magazine subscription or something like that. He lives in a rural area in the west and has a big garden and is interested in growing his own food, 'treading lightly' etc. Any bright ideas? Thanks.

How about something from the Organic Gardening catalogue (http://www.gardenorganic.org.uk/feedback/catalog.php) like interesting seeds or equipment? Or a book on gardening? Or a course in the Organic centre in Leitirim?

Perhaps a nice hammock to go with it?

Not necessarily 'green' but you could buy something from the WWF catalogue:

Something like 6-8 bareroot irish apple trees from the seed savers in clare, if he has the space. can be sent direct to him. they have over 110 to choose from. you could give him a voucher and the catalog to choose his own (an important thine in his own garden. He will also need 6-8 round 2 inch stakes and soft rubber ties to support them. A box of organic fertiliser and a box of granulated seaweed will help them get off to a good start.

Or if there is only space for one somthing more exotic like a specimin tree, aproxx 5-7 foot in a large pot, like a fine leaved acer or a monkey puzzle. Get it delivered from the garden center.
