He wants to have 4 wild card picks instead of 2.

Why does he not just have 12 wild card picks

Don’t think there is much wrong with the European selection process. In fact we could have gone with no captain’s picks last time out. I think Faldo should, and most likely will, be limited to 2 picks.

The American’s are having trouble with their selection as they have so many quality international players playing on their tour. Only four players in the top 10 of this year’s PGA Tour Money List are American. The Americans don’t want steady-consistent-yet-fail-to-win type players, they are pushing for big performers in Majors and multi-winners of the bigger PGA events. And if all that fails, at least Zinger has four picks to fall back on.

Just as well the European side is not selected on the basis of Major Tournament performances ;->

I think Azinger doesn't want to find himself in the same position as Lehman did this year with so many rookies in the team. This way he can pick from experience.2 wildcards I can understand but 4 is 1/3 rd of the team, kinda defeats the purpose of having a selection process in the first place.

I don't see the problem with him having two extra picks. Everyone knows the US system of selection is somewhat flawed, so this would be a good decision in my eyes. When you consider the lop-sided results from the last two Ryder Cups, there has to be some changes in order to keep it competitive.
