I think the Chinese' take aways in KK are pretty dire compared to Dublin. There's a new one in Ballyragget and it's way nicer than anything in the city. Though Ming Court is nice in John St. but kinda slow. That one in Irishtown isn't the best imo.
As regars chippers KK is not exactly the best either; I try to keep those to a bare minimum!I guess Larkins is prob the best of a bad lot?!

I rarely ever go to take aways any more, but I used to love chips from Joe's take away on Dean st. They always gave you a huge bag of them.

I Like Ming Court, prob the best in KK. Don't think much of the new one at
Newpark Shopping Centre, must try the one in Ballyragget;) Can't eat out of
Larkins anymore, like eating a bag of fat! it was nice one time. I miss uncle
    sam's:(

Is uncle sams gone?! I swore that was still there, was there one sat night (I think:confused: ) a few months back!
Haven't been at the Newpark one yet, pity it's not great the location is handy out there, but by the sounds of thing I'm better off. Godfathers pizza is pretty good, heard that franchise was in finanical difficulty; is it closed currently?
Joes should concentrate more on quality than quantity! Although try that one Roccos and you can count the chips individually:rolleyes: !

Ming Court is good alright. Like the Li Gardens on Rose Inn Street too.

I miss the chips from the old Delaneys.

Ming Court is lovely but incredibly slow the last time I ate there, so I changed to Swans. Right now my favourite take away is definately Del Pappa's. The pizza's are so nice, and the chips arent greasy and are a million times better than Larkins next door.

The two chippers on John St. aren't bad. Is Uncle Sam's closed? I hope it is - dreadful place unless you like your food poisoning.

China Kitchen in Irishtown is well dodgy. Pearl's was much better.

Got stuff out of the Green Chili on John Street and was very unimpressed. Not only was the food very expensive and underwhelming but the Indian guy who gave me the takeaway treated me like I was something the cat had dragged in. His loss - I haven't been back since

Myself and my brother ate in Swans the weekend before last. Was far from impressed. Food seemed rather 'gloopy' (if that makes sense).

Passed the Li Gardens over the weekend and noticed it was closed for renovations. Can't say I've ever experienced a bad meal there unlike the previous two posters.

My other brother ate from the new chinese by the Spar in Newpark and professed it to be "pure ****e".

Was having lunch in the cafe (quest? i think) opposite the newpark chinese and saw a delivery truck from a food company pull up outside... the guy unloaded boxes and left them outside the back door which I could see through an open gate to the back yard.
30 minutes later the boxes were still there (as I was leaving after my lunch).

Now the lorry had a chiller unit on it though I don't know what the food items were (maybe in tins, maybe not chilled, fresh, frozen, who knows).

But the fact remains that I couldn't trust the place if it has this unattended delivery of food.... the mind boggles as to how long it was there, what creatures had access to it and how often this happens (and indeed where else this happens too?)

Interesting. Another Chinese not to go to in Kilkenny

All you have to do is walk around Kilkenny early in the morning and you usually see food left outside restaurants like that.

One particular eaterie on John Street regularly has food left outside their door for anything up to 2 hours in the mornings.

I wonder what they did in Uncle Sam's. I got food poisoning from chips once. I didn't think it was possible.
