I have read a few posts advising not to skimp when buy a golf shoe.

So, what are your recommendations on a high quality shoe?
Also, I notice that the Footjoys are not only measured in the conventional shoe six i.e. size 9,10 etc. but also in width.

How important is it to get my shoe custom fitted? Theres not a whole lot of places here in Limerick that sell a wide range of golf shoes but the missus is up around a McGurks in Dublin and she might pop in for me...however im having second thoughts after reading that I may need to be there to have my foot measured correctly.

the best thing you can do is try the shoe on, there are plenty of quality shoes (footjoy, adidas, Etonic, Ecco) but comfort is the main thing, if you're not comfortable it'll effect your enjoyment, mcguiks is very dublin based alright, you could try going to a good pro shop/decent golf shop and asking about shoes, try some on, get an idea for what you want and then leave saying you didn't like any, then get your wife to pick up whichever ones you want
