    Hi
    I see a lot of jobs advertised that say C# or ASP.net.

    Should it not be C#.net or ASP.net?

    Thanks
    M

    C# is a .NET language... its just C# no .net on it.. so its C# (pronounce C Sharp)

    Other languages include

    C++.NET
    VB.NET
    J# and many more from other companies rather than MS

    ASP.NET is a technology rather than a language because it can be written in a .NET language..

    ASP, VB, C++ and others all existed as products prior to .Net. Thus there is a naming distinction required to know whether one is talking about the "original" or the .Net version.

    C# and J# exist only as part of .Net. They didn't exist beforehand. Thus, there is no need for a distinction in the name.
