    You do know the Xbox 360 does not support DVI so I fail to see how this will work or be beneficial ?

    You are better off leaving it on the analogue component or VGA inputs.

    You need to buy the xbox 360 vga cable, and connect it straight in.

    ok so my component to dvi adaptor worked and i now have my standard hdtv cables running thru the adaptor and into my dvi port on my telly.

    one problem, i know dvi doesnt carry sound, but when i have the input set to pc on my telly - it has pc or hd - i can get sound but no picture! and on the hd, i can get picture not sound.... any ideas how i can get both??

    and still also looking for a multi dvi port input..

    dunno if this it in the right forum now..

    HDMI is what you're looking for (I think). HDMI = DVI + sound.

    Just curious but why put it through the DVI port if your TV has VGA/Component the signal from the Xbox 360 is natively analogue ? You are giving yourself an awful lot of hassle for little reason other than to have everything on one port, if you do not want to sacrifice the component input on your TV it is a lot easier & cheaper to get component splitters than DVI ones.

    To answer your query about audio;
    Component has 5 cables two of which white/red carry audio these are often referred to as RCA cables.

    Your TV if it has a DVI input most likely has a PC audio input that uses a 3.5mm phono connection. What you require is an RCA->3.5mm converter which will input the sound into the TV.

    If your TV does not have a 3.5mm input then it must use RCA connectors so simply plug the red/white connectors straight into the TV's input that is marked for PC audio support.

    A further issue with the audio stems from the fact that the DVI port I assume on your TV is intended for PC's as such it has an assigned port on the TV for audio input, you must find a way to split that audio input so you can share the Xbox 360 & HTPC over the TV's PC audio input if you plan on having both sharing the same inputs.

    You should check out Maplins line of splitters, this one in particular seems to fit your need as it supports 2 DVI ports and has RCA inputs for the audio.

    yeah, you see when i was specing up the tv it said that it had dual hdtv inputs, so i took that to mena one dvi/hdmi and a compnent input. however, when i brought the tv home, it only had the one dvi port, but there is two 'ways' if you like to connect hd media to the telly. so when i press the av button, i have 5 options, 2 scart connections, one rca,red white and yellow, on 'pc' connection, and one 'hd' connection....possibly not my best purchase, but at the time was all i could afford....

    thanks for the link to the splitters on maplins,will give the one in town a buzz to see if they stock them and get a quote.

    although im not 100% happy with the tv, so i might just cut my losses and see after xmas what i could afford in the way of a 42"...of course with many more inputs!!lol

    So it has 5 inputs;
    scart
    scart
    composite (= yellow/red/white)
    PC = what is this DVI or VGA ?
    HD = what is this component, DVI, HDMI or VGA ?

    What make & model TV is this ?

    no it doesnt have 5 it has 4 only. i thought there were 2 hd inputs, however there is only one dvi port and no component inputs!

    its a phillips, not sure of the model number, its not the newer ones with the black around the panel. its the one with the silver around the panel if that helps any....

    Not really :)

    The model number should be written on the back of the TV. Failing that you may be able to identify is from Philips own site.

    Now big is this thing ?
