I dunno if this has been asked before but does anyone know if the Nintendo Wii supports connecting it up to a VGA monitor just like you can with the 360? I know the Wii isnt a hi-definition machine but I think it will still look alot better running thru my lcd monitor rather than a tv.

It doesn't support VGA. There is an optional component cable you can buy seperatly though.

AFAIK the Wii won't have high definition support, so a VGA connector would be a bit pointless.

I've got a Samsung LCD HD 26", but if the Wii can only output up to 480p will a componant really offer anything better than a good advanced scart? Is there even going to be an advanced scart for it?

    Im so

Tell me about it. Nintendo have been vague on the issue too.

The way I'd go about it is to use a scart initally and if it doesn't look good, search online after launch over here to see what the solution is.

No point buying the cables at launch if you won't need them.

Its times like this I'm glad I don't have a HDTV.

If the Gamecube is anything to go by composite Wii on a HDTV will look awfull. If you want to play on a HD and your tv supports it, get componant. There is rgb too, but I don't know what that is like.

My mistake. I ment to say componant in my first post. Composite looks terrible on everything

I have to disagree, I use my cube/xbox/360 on a Sony Wega 100hz TV, and the cube and Xbox look great on it, but the 360 is poor for text

I don't think there's any VGA cable planned because it could be used with a PC monitor theoretically offering some form of HD output, which the Wii can't.

My HDTV doesn't seem to have any component ports, all it has are scart and s-video. Is s-video much better than composite?

Yep and you will get a better picture again from a RGB scart cable.

Some TV's accept component through other connectors via an adapter btw.
