    On behalf of my aunt...

She's looking for grown trees to buy. She says she seen them for sale at a market (held once a year) for €25.

Anyone where these can be gotten? Not the seeds the actual trees...

Thanks for any help in advance...

They used to be sold in the fairyhouse market on a sunday ( fairyhouse racecourse). I havn't been to that market in a while tho, so I am not sure if it is still being held on a Sunday - maybe someone can confirm that. The same people who sell at the market have their own Bonsai Tree shop - in the Powerscourt shopping centre, as far as I know.

    Hope that helps.

It is still on. I was at it last week. I didn't see any bonsai trees but tbh I wasn't looking for them so they may well have been there.

Even grown ones (5+ years) require about as much care and attention as a small dog. I gave up as I had loads die on me even after I followed all the instructions for watering them umpteen times a day. It can be a very depressing experience being a Bonsai owner.

B&Q sell them for about 25 euro upwards, the cheapest would be several years old anyway.

They are depressingly difficult to look after...you really need to have humid conditions or they'll die quite rapidly.

There is a bonsai shop in the powerscourt centre in Dublin.

come to think of it, I bought a lovely one for my mother, and I havn't seen it in a while hmmmm- she is also good with plants and that, so it must be difficult to keep the little things alive and well.

I second that... though I have a biggish one thats lasted over a year now.

The last one that died on me had a warning with it: "Leaves turning brown and falling off may be symptom of overwatering. Underwatering may also cause leaves to turn brown and fall off."

    Helpful or what!

The shop in Powerscourt does offer a good aftersales hotline though.

There's a stall with them at the people's market in Dun Laoighre near the pier. Some really lovely old ones, I think they were all around the €25 to €50 price point (some of them were quite big and elaborate).

There is a bonsai shop in the powerscourt centre in Dublin.

I bought one in there for my boyfriend last christmas, it was pretty expensive, and then after i'd given it to him I found out it is one of the most difficult bonsai to look after - the woman in the shop never questioned my experience of bonsai gardening, she gave me a factsheet "that tells you all you need to look after it" there are other bonsai's that are a lot easier to keep but as I said, you MUST have a humid environment - dry air (such as in a house with central heating) will KILL them.

Even B&Q give better gardening advice tbh.
