An evil man, that was supported by Western Governments for many years, and they turned a blind eye to much of his evil-doing.
    Not worth forgetting.

If it's not, I would imagine that the Bush admin would try and let slip the video of it. Maybe even have a few soldiers smiling, thumbs up and waving their todgers around in the background.

WOW! Fantastic timing, 2 days before the US mid term elections.

Worst possible sentence they could have given tbh. All they've done is handed fundamentalists a martyr.

In any case, why wasn't he sent to the hague? This was nothing more than a show-trial with a pre-determined sentence.

Foolish sentence as Lemming said. A life time incarcaration with no possibility for parole would have been "better"

he should have been put to trial under the same conditions as Melosovic in the Hague and I think that he should have been just detained for the rest of his life, rather than killing him. This is going to make the current civil war worse especially on the Sunni side. Freedom will come at a huge cost for the Iraqi people and there will be many more years of fighting before it becomes a peaceful nation, this doesn't take away from that or even make it any better.

Gotta love those sort of coincidences...

Wasn't he arrested out of his hidey hole a few weeks before Bushes innauguration for his second term of office....amid claims that kurdish forces had captured him up to 2 months earlier, some reports suggesting there was Iranian help in the initial capture...

Death is an easy escape for an evil man and it always is.
I think some kind of meek, quiet existance in the middle of nowhere, where his ideas can have no more oxygen, would be a far greater punishment to a man that craves attention and praise.
