Copy CD ROM to DVD

Hey everyone, just quick question, is there any way to copy a CD-Rom (legally!) to a DVD -R i'm using nero 6 and when i do a disc copy it says that it needs a CD-R when i insert the DVD and won't let me continue thanks!

Just copy the contents of the CD to a folder on the hard disk and then burn the files to a DVD as a data disk.
