    Hey everyone,
    Just wondering if anybody knows information about braces provided by the public healthcare!!! I have a medical card so will I get them for free?

    How long is the waiting list etc etc ........

    Stevoo what age are you? Orthodontic treatment in the health board is only of children under 16. The waiting lists are extreemly long and only go on severity of the proplem. Only really badly crooked in there opinion (they us a an international index called the IOTN) not yours are elagable for treatment.

    fitzgeme is absolutely correct. It's nigh-on impossible to get braces on the medical card if you're over 16. Your problem has to be so severe that your gums are bleeding every day and teeth are loose or falling out due to excessive crowding OR you have been involved in an accident which requires braces as part of the treatment. If your case falls outside of these examples, I'm afraid you better get saving!
