MythTv Qs: I have a simple Myth set-up (0.18 on Ubuntu), ie. TV card connected to my Sat box RF out, (stereo from the Stereo-out on the sat box), but i dont have an internet connection on this PC so i dont get the listings. It did take me quite a while to get the whole thing going, escpecially recording, so now i have 2 final(ish) Q's:
1: My recordings are in the NUV format, which take up a bit of space, is there another format i can record to? Or whats the EASY way of converting them to MPG. Is Nuvexport an easy program to use?
2: How do i get the sound to set-up correctly? (ie. time-shifted- as Myth is delayed 3sec or so) I'm getting the stereo from the sat box directly into the PC sound-card & this can be muted by muting line-in. Myth is set-up to /dev/dsp but i get no sound. Maybe it has to be routed thru the TV card !! Any ideas....cheers.

Yip, nuvexport probably the best. There's a good detail on how to use it at:

Not sure here, are other devices that use /dev/dsp giving you audio, e.g. does xine / mplayer work ok for you? The audio should come out from the sound card as normal. If you give me some more details as to the exact nature of the problem I might be able to help some more.

what PVR card are you using?

Sound: i'll take a look at it tonite, i have sound in TVTime & Kaffeine. I was reading the Ubuntu forums & help guides & they mention re-setting the /dev/dsp to ALSA:default. I know that when i click on the 'sound' icon, i can see the Intel sound options, & the Alsa options, & i think i used to be able to see the OSS options. This might have changed as i was setting up modules in the kernel to get the TV card to work. I'll mess around with a few things tonite.....

My PVR card is a Mercury card (7130 chipset), fairly bog-standard, ie. no stereo. But in windoze, its own software isn't bad, apart from not been able to schedule multiple 'timed' programs, ie. if i was going away for a few days.

I remember now alright having to do that with .18. But with 0.20 it should work without any changes whatsoever. If you have the ability to upgrade you should, stability wise it's much better - says he who's after having to give his myth box the hard reset since it had hung ;)

Upgrade: is this painful...... rem > this box is not connected to the Internet. Does it require an full un-install or simply change a few files ?

Any help with Nuvexport would be great: ie. I avent looked at it yet.

Note: i may be late in replying to further threads, as i've limited access to da Net, unbelievably in this age.....

Update: i've just downloaded the Ubuntu feisty > Myth 0.20 debs online
