On another note, is it possible to take the US return on the breeders cup races or are u stuck with the prices offered by the bookies here??

A competition is a great idea. If someone wants to organise one now they can. I'll be home from work this evening and can put one together then but if anyone else wants to do it feel free to do so. Post suggestions here!

ChuckProphet, yes you can get the US returns but you would have to clearly state it on your bet. Write "pari-mutual" or "US Tote" price or something like that. If you don't take a price and don't state what you want you will get the Industry SP.

thanks, thought it was like that alright.

    How about something simple like:

    Everyone has €100 to bet.
    Minimum bet is €10.
    Maximum bet is €30.
You must bet in at least 4 of the 8 races.
Only win or e/w singles allowed. No multiples. (1/5 the odds for a place in an e/w bet)
    Bets settled at industry SP.
The winner gets to put "Boards.ie Breeders' Cup 2006 Tipping Champion" in their signature for the next year.
Any flagrant rule-breaking results in a banning from all the internets.

    Thoughts?

Right, I suppose I'll kick this off, unless the mods want to do something different.

    Juvenile - Scat Daddy - €20 win
    Mile - Araafa - €25 win
    Distaff - Balletto - €25 win
    Turf - Scorpion - €30 win

    Who dares challenge me?

That sounds like a challenge to Pighead! If I win can I get Boards Breeders Cup Champion Tipster made out on a badge as well? Me old man helped me out with the selections and I want to give a bit back if I prevail.

    Sprint- Henny Hughes -30 Points
Filly And Mare- Satwa Queen-20 Points
Mile- Echo Of Light- 10 Points
    Classic- Bernardini- 40 Points

30 is the most you can bet Pighead. Otherwise I'd have the 100 on Kellys Landing... although that does break another rule. :)

A great win there by Dreaming of Anna. I was on Octave and thought it was going to do it but just could not catch Dreaming of Anna who made all.

I'm doing the very same as ya bud. :) Seconditis for me tonight though, had Octave e/w at 8s and had Circular Quay in the second race. Some feat to come from so far off to finish second. Might have been different if it got a clean break from the stalls but nevertheless it was a superb win and nothing can be taken away from it.

Hi Guys I'm on Satwa Queen next. Had no luck so far but hope it changes.
    What about you both?

I was on Ouija Board. A lovely ride by Frankie. She really is a star. I'm dutching on Kellys Landing and Pomeroy in the next.

I went looking for a bigger price and thought about Film Maker for a while (not long enough). Pomeroy does look good.

    Stall number 1 again....

Well that was horrific on my wallet but thoroughly enjoyable nonetheless. My highlight was Street Sense's fantastic ten-length win in the Juvenile. An Arazi-like performance!

As for the competition, nobody had more than one winner, which is understandable looking over the results. Four people had Ouija Board but gamb1or was the only one to pick Classic winner Invasor and so takes the coveted title of "Boards.ie Breeders' Cup 2006 Tipping Champion". Well done, gamb1or!
