This can't be bad news for us across the pond who skip back and forth frequently. :) from rte.ie/business
Aer Lingus said today that the delivery of two new aircraft next May and June would lead to a 28% boost in its long haul capacity and help it develop its presence in the US market.
The airline said in a statement it would add 26 long haul flights a week following delivery of two Airbus A330s next year. The new planes would increase the long haul fleet from seven to nine, and bring to 120 the total number of long haul flights operated weekly to and from the US and Middle East.

'The arrival of two new long haul aircraft next year marks the first phase of the long haul expansion plan and gives Aer Lingus the opportunity to develop its presence in the US market,' Aer Lingus CEO Dermot Mannion said.
He added that the airline was looking forward to a timely decision on an 'Open Skies' aviation services deal between the European Union and the US which would allow the airline to fly into an unlimited number of US cities.

Aer Lingus said that from next summer its Dublin to New York service will operate twice a day non-stop, while it will fly from Shannon to New York daily.
Its Boston service will increase from 11 flights a week to two flights daily, one non-stop from Dublin and a second from Dublin, via Shannon.

The airline's Chicago services will increase from a daily flight to two flights daily, one non-stop from Dublin and the second from Dublin-Shannon, which is a new daily direct service from Shannon.
Aer Lingus says its Dublin to Los Angeles service will increase from five flights weekly to a daily service and its Dublin to Dubai route will increase from three flights a week to four.

Good News, Aer Lingus should invest in some new Boeing 777's as they are very long range and would allow them to operate to Australia. There is a large market of Irish travel to Australia and there is no direct flights from Ireland to Australia unless charter??

It would boost Irish/Australian Tourism and they could even route them through Dubai in the Middle East if necessary. Still I will never fly them again if Michael O'Leary has anything to do with the company.

I think Qantas and Singapore Airlines go to Oz with a few stops but more competition would be super.

A330-200s would do the job just as well
