    But if its already a feature on the phone (im planning on buying a Vision M), you could still record?

    Yes.

    Same way you can physically steal something. Doesn't mean its right. The question was is it illegal, and it is.

    It's copyright infringement. You wont go to jail for taping off the radio.

    Doesn't mean it's wrong, either, I'd like to add.

    The way the RIAA and the like act most certainly is, though.

    Illegal = wrong.

    Seriously, I'm not making it up.

    Original Question : Is it illegal.

    This is the question I answered.

    With the answer : yes.

    Don't be autistic.

    Illegal ≠ Wrong.
    Illegal = Unlawful.

    Things that are legally prohibited are so, presumably, because they are morally wrong. But the legal system is imperfect. In this case, I think, there is a glitch. Taping off the radio? How is that morally reprehensible? Stipulate exactly how that is morally objectionable.

    Glitch or no glitch, show me where it says it is NOT illegal.

    Don't be autistic.
    Don't use "autistic" without looking it up in the dictionary first.

    On a side-note, the RIAA don't represent anyone in this country, as the last 'A' indicates.

    Illegal may or may not equal wrong, on a moral level. The original question appears to have been answered.

    No. I didn't say it wasn't illegal. I don't have the burden of that proof. I'm just saying that it doesn't follow from the fact that it is illegal that it is morally wrong.

    I'm not looking for a merit badge.
    I'm simply defending Rozie's position. Illegal ≠ Wrong.

    And "autistic"? I needn't consult a dictionary to use it in its loosest sense. It's pretty obvious I wasn't saying Silverfish has a neurodevelopment disorder. I was saying he/she was acting as if he/she did. I'd advise you to consult your common sense when reading words like "autistic" in this context.

    B*l**x

    It is legal to record, for your own use, broadcasts that you have a right to listen to in the first place (the famous Sony vs. Betamax case established this). It is not legal to resell, redistribute, or rebroadcast the recordings without the permission of the copyright owner.

    The reason creative took this off was due to pressure from the record from the record companies, tied in with making the VM DRM compatible.

    This is purely record industry illegally flexing their muscles. I hope my IAudio X5L lasts forever.

    Yes, its legal to tape from the radio for your own personal use, just as it is legal to record from tv for your own personal use.

    Gad, I've been away for a week...

    This isn't the legal issues forum. I believe there is such a forum if you want to debate the legality of recording off the radio.

    mollser & FionnMatthew - control your responses please and leave out the insults. Thanks.
