LCD Monitor gone kaput....

    Hi Folks,

My Dell LCD 17" monitor (which is out of warranty...just!) has recently gone kaput. The monitor powers on fine etc... but there is no picture at all.

When you power it on (when connected to the PC), the orange light just stays on which normally indicated that it wasnt getting a signal from the PC. With the PC disconnected from the monitor, it goes from orange to solid green, but no picture (should display a test page) is displayed.

Does anyone know how to diagnose the problem further to find out if its repairable or for the bin!

    Cheers,
    Jab

Did you try another monitor to rule out a problem at the PC end? Or try the monitor on another PC/laptop?
If it is knackered then any repair would probably be close to the replacement cost.
Try getting onto Dell and argue your case. It should last alot longer than the warranty period.

    Hi,

Yeah, its defo a problem with the monitor. Have tried the dell route, but with no luck. However, from reading various things on the interweb, people seem to suggest that 90% of situations like this dont involve a replacement panel and as such, the cost of repair can often be less than the cost of a replacement!

Anyone know how to diagnose further or of any places that might be able to take a look and offer more information etc...?

    Tx,
