Sandman's quad

Not sure if this is the right forum, but what the hell.

Nearing the end of an 11.5 hour day in the office, I find that I work best in the morning and then again when it is nearly time to go home. There is a slump period of 2-3 hours when I am unable to concetrate and have great difficulty putting in the time (I mean UNBEARABLY difficult, the kind that makes you want to die:))

To get past this hump I drink about three to four coffees in a row and take a walk around the floor of the office I work in...but sometimes, these techniques don't work. The work I do is pretty head-wrecking, and yet, I still want to do my wages worth.

Has anybody any suggestions as how they manage to get through difficult days, or have techniques that may be useful to me and others? I don't want to drink coffee all my working day as the stuff they have hear tastes like your Granny's bile.

    Please share!:)

I find when i eat starchy stuff at lunch, bread, pasta and the like I'm in bits. If I have something light like a salad or fruit I am fine.

Try and eat less at lunch I guess. The body likes to try and go asleep when digesting.

Begin to do something else like tidying up the office, vacuuming, clean windows etc. ;)

PS - excuse my ignorance but what is "Sandman's quad" in the title??

I took it as Sandman squad - people who have the same problem.

@OP, I take it this occurs after lunch? Think it may be a dip in your blood sugar but you'd be better off posting in fitness and they'll set you right. The only thing I could suggest is eating smaller meals more often, getting some exercise e.g. a walk, in at lunchtime and drinking plenty of water - I'm getting in 1 - 1.5ltrs before and after lunch. I used to have a similar problem and this works for me.

Oh, also make sure you're getting enough sleep and is it 12 hours m-f?

Have you tried Knorr quick soup to beat the 3pm slump:)

I work in a quad so that is the place where I go brain-dead.:)

I guess eating a big dinner must be part of it a one poster pointed out.

Perhaps snacking continously at the desk would be better? I rarely eat at the desk as it is, but may start doing so if it keeps me awake. ;)
