Bogus Charity Clothes Collections

Watch out for those "collection for orphans" bags and stickers that get posted through the letter box. You may think you are doing the right thing by setting aside good clothes and shoes, toys etc for these but they are not genuine. The collectors are going through your stuff and keeping the good things and then ilegally dumping anything they dont want. If you have good things to donate, take them to a charity shop in Bray of the one in Greystones in the old church hall, if they are no good, dispose of them in your waste collection service. Dont deny a registered charity the chance to make a few bob on your good but no longer worn clothes, shoes and toys, and dont contribute to the ilegal dumping of what these gangs dont want, Ever wondered where all those toys you see scattered around halting sites come from?

It has been mentioned to me, although I cannot confirm; that the little slip of paper posted thru the letterbox regarding the collection is used to help thieves. If they notice there is a lot of mail on the the floor or the slip of paper has not been moved, they know the house is empty.

A good indicator of these bogus collections is their contact details - a 'charity' providing you with a mobile phone number to contact them on....suspicious...
