    G'Day,
Anybody have any opinions on the cheap 1200W router (30euro) and router table (50euro) etc that are available in ALDI at present. The router looks OK (solid enough) and comes with 12bits (rubbish i'm sure, but might last a couple of dozen runs?). The router takes 6 and 8mm bits (doesnt mention 6.35mm?) It has a dedicated router table.
    waste of money?
loo:) k forward to hearing from the informed.

You can't go wrong with 30 quid for a router, their fairly basic machines at best. B+Q sell them fairly reasonable too. Cheap router tables are usually that, cheap, well not so much the table itself but the fence, which is where quality counts.I haven't seen the aldi one so can't comment on it but I have seen a fair few around the town, including one I bought, and the fence is always the big let down.

I bought both of them last year. The router table is a bit flimzy, but would do for occasional work, but the router doesn't fit it as it's base is too big, and my router was faulty as the collet won't tighten, the thread seems to be faulty. Powercraft have a three year guarantee and are fine for DIY use, I just never got back on to them. Bought a Dewalt recently instead.

So I suppose get the router, just check it when you get home.
