alg.exe Local Service: A problem?

Started up my laptop and went to view an online tutorial about monitor profiling (not sure if that was the reason for my problem though).

I noticed that my Outlook and Firefox icons in the system tray were flashing orange. They also had to be double clicked to open them on the screen.

Had a look in the Task Manager and I noticed something called alg.exe Local Service at the top of the list. Never seen it before.

I switched it off and the icons returned to their normal blue.

Any idea why alg.exe was suddenly turned on?

I rebooted and it's back on again, but everything is working fine. Also, it's much further down the list in Task Manager now. Don't know if this makes any difference.

    Ta.
