Getting a tablet pc repaired

Would anyone know where I could get a Tosh tablet pc repaired?

The keyboard part has a section of keys that won't work - I think that part of the motherboard could be blown. I.E. the keys don't respond.

Realistically I presume the motherboard would need to be replaced?

    Any help, much appreciated..

Phone some pc repair shops in your area. Also email the the makers of your laptop and ask them for advice, and some places they know that can fix it.Or contact the company you bought it from, If they sell it they should be able to order parts and fix it. I know pc world do this. Espicially with the sony pcs. The ones with everything built in. When the parts arive the instructions come with them.

Don't suppose its under warranty OP?

    Thanks for the replies.

No its actually not still under warranty as it is about 3 years old. It was top of the range when I got it and I used it as a laptop mainly and that is the reason part of the keys don't work - due to the use.

I have checked locally and most shops only fix PC's and don't even repair laptops and the fact that its a Tablet scared them off even more.

It was bought through a company distributor so it didn't come from a shop and therefore I can't get it repaired there.

I presume I will have to ring Toshiba, but I don't want to be hit with a huge bill to repair the keys on it. If its just the keyboard that needs replacing then I presume it wouldn't cost too much? Put the call out fee alone will make it very expensive to repair and as I haven't used it too much, I don't really want to spend that much on it.

Anyone on boards that does repairs?

I took my laptop apart with the help of a mate.
Keyboards are generally one of the easiest things to replace.
Is this any good to you?

    Cheers, thanks for that.

I have found my one there:
    http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/Toshiba_Portege_3500/replace_soundboard_1.htm

Thats to replace the soundboard, but I will have a search to see how to replace the keyboard.

** The Keys are perfect, but I presume the parts below it are "blown" in the section to where the 6-8 keys are not responding**

As jman0 said, nothing to do with the motherboard it's just the keyboard which needs replaced. When you take apart a laptop/tablet, it's usually one of the first things you take off. Attaching the wire can be fiddley, but that's about it. :)

And can I just order a new keyboard from the web as a part? How do I know its definitely the keyboard?

Email your manufacturer and find out the part number, Then match it up. Or email the supplier of the new keyboard, And ask them if it is the same, But give them as much info as you can.
