Living in Tokyo

Hi, i am planning to go live in Tokyo from next April/may. i am currently flicking through lonely planet, and insight guides to Tokyo. although they are painting a picture of cost, culture, and sights, they are aimed at holidays rather than settling in to the city. i am at the moment planning to stay at least two months, but have a visa for a year. what i'm looking for is hands on information about districts to LIVE in rather than stay in if you know what i mean. or any other advice about the city, cheap areas for rent and the like. or if anyone has any job seeking advice that would be great. i have no Japanese, but would like to learn while over there. am traveling alone too.

    thanks in advance

    Odin
