Hey, just wondering if anyones ever applied for one of those sales/marketing jobs that are always being advertised in the paper.
The ad usually reads something like: "15 people required immediately for sales marketing company in city centre-no exp necessary"

I'm looking for something office-y as soon as possible.
I just find it weird that they're always looking for people!!
Anyone applied and had a bad experience?
Would love to know as I'd hate to waste time and have a bad experience!

i thought everyone has done this at some point.
basically they get you in to a place in town.
give you a load of **** about "top sales envirnment" "great experiences" and so on.
the interview will seem to go great.
but youll see nothing of the building, just the front of house professional looking offices.
theyll call you up and bul**** you about how you just gave the best answers theyve ever seen and so on.
youll go back in on monday and be led past the offices to a room,
where theyll hand you a bag full of crap toys / compilation cds and tell you to **** off till five o clock and sell them

If you fancy being like the Trotters trying to sell shít to people who don't need it then go for it.

(You can see the suckers coming out of a building in Capel Street with large black suitcases full of the stuff that they have to flog)

Avoid any job with a high staff turnover. ;)

Best bet is to give false details all the way through, then just nick the stuff when they give it to you :)

Ahh yeah I've seen those poor sods dragging those huge bags along capel st sweating and wrecked looking.. why anyone would do a job like that, who knows.. They come from a place about half way up capel st, there is a brass plate on the doorway that goes up over another store (wont say what it is in case boards gets sued or something :D )

No way man, go be an eircom customer service gimp or something, at least ya can surf the web and get on boards.. :p

    Exactly as I thought!
was put off by the high turnover alright, that looked a bit suspect.
    Eircom it is!
If anyone has done anything half-decent to make a bit of cash, let me know! ;)

i did it for 2 weeks when i was younger as i needed a summer job fast.
its honestly the worst job experience ive ever had in my life.

you HAVE to be in work by seven am,
then you have to stay out until 5 pm.
first people back have to have made a certain amount or they get told to wait for everyone else to come back

they dont pay you, or tax you.
its a self-employed system and they sell you the goods on credit until later that day.

ahhhh, im stressed just thinking about it :/

    cati centre on jervis street.
ultimate job for students/lazy bastards ;)

youll get the number in the phonebook,
ring people up to do those 5 minute customer service after call interviews
"we notice you called vodafone recently, do you have a few minutes to chat......."

loved it, day flies by, ultra flexible hours and decent cash if you put in a few hours per week

jaysus, can just imagine tripping around capel street with a big sack of sh*t over my shoulder.
Not my cup of tea at all!
Sounds a bit dodge that they don't tax you.
Actually have a mate working in the cati centre Subway.....he loves it!
There's a couple of those places around..will check it out.

Just something that ain't too stessful that you can do without thinking, y'know.

if youve worked there fair enough,
but if you havent id like you to take that back.

i worked there and really enjoyed it,
3 hour shifts contribute greatly to the day flying by as do quick pints at lunch time.
you can work any hours you like from the shifts
    9-1, 1.30-5, 5.30-9 monday to saturday
    no minimum or maximum limits
select your shifts on a days notice and so on
worked aout at £8 or £9 an hour when i was there a few years ago which was pretty decent money at the time.
i dont think anywhere even pays that much for p/t these days

tbh it was one of the better part time jobs ive done in my time,
obviouslt not a career in the making but good for a quick turn of cash.

It was the ****test job I ever done, closely followed by the data entry job I done one summer. As well as that it the pay was crap compared to other summer / p/t jobs I done in the years prior. No wonder you had to go for pints during lunch :D

what other jobs did you do?
i thought i got farily lucky with it.

each to their own i guess, i couldnt hack a data entry job but ringin farners to ask them about their thoughts on nescafe was always a laugh.

maybe it was the pints ;)

I will, it say CMC Distributions and it's the best job every, a bit of hard graft and duckin' and divin, bit o' this bit o' that and everyones a winner baby! Came out with 4,000 some weeks worst week came out with 500 (bad week two day sick) - I am of course taking the piss it's the worst job ever, it's crap they give you come dodge phrases and things and tell you they are business terms (never seen any of them in any business book) - I Knew after the first 2 seconds it was a load of crap, but waited for 2 hours until i thought, i know i'll act sick and then finally got out of there - they prey on your guys especially between the ages of 18 - 20 who they know will probably need the money for booze DON'T DO IT!

Ah no CATI was a good job, mind you i did go on the piss every night that summer, best summer of my life and the job didn't take away from it, i could call in sick with 3 hours notice and not a thing would said, and they would continue to give you hours even if you screwed them around with hours a lot, it was class

You're technically self employed, you're supposed to declare it in your tax return.
